    Job Summary
    The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a student to assist with social media and web content and develop press releases, announcements, and other materials as needed.

    This is a year-round student opportunity, offering a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week.

    Essential Functions
    • Assist staff with website maintenance, updates, and content development.
    • Assist staff with event promotions, videography, and photography.
    • Conduct, document, and catalog interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
    • Develop stories, graphics, and write articles to promote the activities of alumni, students, and student organizations for print, web, and social media.
    • Assist staff and faculty with the content development, layout, and editing of printed materials, including brochures, advertising, flyers/posters, and other collateral materials.
    • Assist with the drafting of press releases and other media announcements as needed.
    • Assist with developing and maintaining media, peer institution, and industry-related contact lists.
    • Conduct market research studies and other duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications
    Currently enrolled student at Auburn University.

    Expectations:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities independently and on deadline is required.
    • Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, self-discipline, and attention to detail in their work and interactions.
    • Excellent writing skills, working knowledge of Associated Press and Chicago writing styles.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or Mass Communications major/minor student.
    • Specialized interest in translating the methods, impacts, and wider applications of scientific research for a wide variety of public audiences to interest, engage, and garner support in the college's research, academic, development, and outreach programs.
    • Freshman or sophomore-year candidate.
    • Experience with Microsoft and Adobe products, as well as WordPress.


    Pay Rate
    $12.00/hour

    Work Hours
    Up to 20 hours
