    • Link Technologies ), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a SQL Developer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Las Vegas, NV. This position, operating under broad guidance, accountable for overseeing enterprise systems configuration and integration activities; assume a leadership role in the development, maintenance, enhancement, and support cycles of highly intricate education business application systems; collaborates directly with the business process expert to instigate/recommend designs and implement advanced, digitized cross-functional business processes.

      QUALIFICATIONS
      • Minimum four (4) years of experience developing large computer applications using various high-level programming languages; i.e., JavaScript, HTML, Java Server Pages, etc.; and using enterprise database and SQL environments to develop applications and view stored procedures, reports, and data extracts; preferably in the latest version of the Microsoft SQL Server environment using the Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager or Management Studio development environments, Microsoft SSRS, and the Microsoft SQL language.
      • Familiarity with principles and practices of employee supervision, encompassing work planning, organization, performance review, employee training, and discipline.
      • Understanding of project management principles and practices.
      • Expertise in team development, management, and employee motivation.
      • Knowledge of principles and techniques for constructing enterprise architecture and the digitization process of cross-functional business processes.
      • Proficiency in principles, practices, and methods of computer programming, systems analysis, and application development.
      • Understanding of service-oriented architecture and proficiency in principles, practices, and methods of parameter-driven, self-service reporting interfaces/dashboards.
      • Proficient in developing stored procedures using SQL.
      • Adept at using the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server, including the SQL Server Enterprise Manager or Management Studio development environments.
      • Skilled in developing reports using the latest version of Microsoft SSRS.
      • Capable of creating applications using the latest version of the Microsoft Visual Studio development environment.
      • Ability to develop advanced, interactive applications using current programming languages and application technologies like JavaScript, HTML, Java Server Pages (JSP), or other languages/applications as required.
      • Competence in managing application projects and coordinating project resources.
      • Capability to conduct analyses of enterprise systems/procedures and provide well-founded recommendations for new applications.
      • Skill in reviewing/analyzing business process requirements and devising effective solutions.
      • Proficient in developing detailed programming specifications and writing complex computer programs.
      • Capability to prepare clear, concise reports, documentation, and other written materials; maintaining organized, accurate records of work performed; assisting in the development of training materials/programs.
      • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
      • Proficiency in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
      • Capability to stay updated on technology and new user applications.
      • Skill in coordinating multiple projects and meeting predetermined deadlines.
      • Flexibility to work varying hours or shifts.
      • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, etc.
      • Capability to recognize/report hazards and apply safe work methods.
      • Possession of physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Supervisory experience.
      • Core product knowledge of the current Student Information System (SIS)
      • Familiarity with the database schema of the current SIS.
      • Knowledge of network fundamentals.
      • Ability to use the latest project management methodology.
      • Ability to develop interactive forms using Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 or higher.
      • Ability to develop flow diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
      RESPONSIBILITIES
      • Plans, schedules, and reviews applications programming staff.
      • Trains staff in work procedures; provides technical assistance in difficult situations, as required.
      • Plans, schedules, and performs implementation tasks for business of education systems based on user/system design specifications; creates test plans/scripts, documents test results, and retests, as necessary.
      • Configures enterprise systems for well-defined and highly digitized business processes.
      • Converts data from third-party or legacy systems into enterprise business systems.
      • Implements the design of processes/reports for schools, departments, administrators, and the public-based on specifications to digitize/integrate business processes.
      • Documents business of education systems, including business process design, setup procedures, and user procedures.
      • Designs and analyzes system requirements; develops system/programming specifications for staff and contract programmers.
      • Maintains data integrity and integration to ensure consistency across multiple software systems as defined in the Enterprise Data Management Plan.
      • Maintains data dictionaries and associated business rules to ensure compliance with data management and governance policies/procedures.
      • Defines and creates trouble tickets with software vendors, when required, to address system-related problems.
      • Manages assigned problem management tickets for areas of support, including documenting workarounds/resolutions in a knowledge base and communicating with service desk personnel.
      • Applies systems analysis techniques and procedures to determine software/system functional specifications in support of upgrades, enhancements, patch fixes, and system implementation projects.
      • Performs root-cause analysis in identifying and resolving complex problems with business of education-related software systems, which may require software modifications or vendor support tickets.
      • Schedules all ongoing maintenance activities for assigned systems; reviews problems encountered by operations staff and departments; analyzes efficiency of current system and procedures; schedules modifications and enhancements.
      • Tracks project statuses and reviews works-in-progress to assure conformance to plans and programming standards.
      • Provides input into the evaluation of assigned staff.
      • Conforms to safety standards, as prescribed.
      • Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.
