    **Description**

    General Description: Responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Food Service Department including kitchen and dining room areas, while controlling expenses and maintaining resident satisfaction.

    Duties:

    Oversees the preparation and presentation of meals and snacks, assuring food is prepared and served at the right temperature and at the right time using approved menus and recipes. Cooks or provides assistance to cooks as necessary.

    Participates in the development of menus and recipes taking into consideration the likes and dislikes of the residents. Modifies diet consistency and/or offerings based on resident individual therapeutic needs.

    Maintains sanitary conditions through the kitchen and dining room. Conducts regular surveillance of conditions and takes corrective actions. Supervises staff in the implementation of cleaning assignments.

    Inventories, orders and receives delivery for all food, chemicals and food service supplies using approved vendors within budgetary guidelines. Keeps purchasing records and maintains adequate supplies at all times.

    Monitors resident satisfaction by being present in the dining room at least one meal per scheduled workday. Conducts at least one resident meeting per month to receive feedback on food and suggestions for improvement. Takes corrective measures as needed to improve satisfaction.

    Assures all equipment is maintained in proper, safe working condition.

    Participates in special events for activities and marketing by creating, preparing, setting up or delivering ordered items.

    Plans and caters special meals and/or resident parties.

    Supervises, trains, and disciplines staff in the performance of their duties.

    Manages the department within budgetary guidelines.

    Acts as Manager on Duty when assigned.

    Reports significant incidents to the Executive Director.

    Attends and participates in committees, training programs and staff meetings.

    Complies with all state and local laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Ability and Experience requirements:

    Must be at least 21 years of age.

    Must have criminal record clearance.

    Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the position.

    Must be able to exercise good judgment and make competent decisions.

    Must be able to maintain a high level of mental concentration.

    Must have a current basic First Aid card.

    Must have 12 years experience as a Head Cook or in a similar position.

    Education Requirements

    High school diploma is preferred.
