    The Data Analyst II role at Service CU will lead both simple and complex end-to-end data analysis engagements, including requirements gathering, data profiling, data mapping, data aggregation, and data visualization development.

    This will require advanced proficiency in interpreting data, trends, patterns in complex data sets, and technical expertise with SQL and Tableau.

    Successful applicants will excel at developing, interpreting and using artifacts like business requirement documents, business workflows, and data lineage diagrams.

    As an informal leader, this role will efficiently collaborate with both business and technology teams, as well as external vendors.

    This position will also assist in implementing a data driven culture and championing data governance & data literacy across the organization.


    Position Responsibilities:


    Use SQL, Tableau and other appropriate tools interrogate data (profile, map & aggregate) to fulfill both ad-hoc and solution development requests.

    Use Python or R, develop advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modelling, retention analysis, and cluster or cohort analysis.
    Gather, analyze, document and validate the needs of the request originator and any other key stakeholders.
    Recognize opportunities to automate processes for optimization and increase efficiency.
    As an overlay to all work, provide continual assistance with the identification, assessment, and resolution of data quality issues.

    Support the use of governed referential data amongst the team, the wider data analytics community, request originators, and other stakeholders.

    Working closely with assigned PMO staff and a Business Analyst, assist in the fulfillment of projects from planning through to implementation.

    Adhere to organization and department standards and processes such as Change Management, Information Security, and Data Governance.

    Identify value-add opportunities that the analytics team can assist with and overlooked touch-points with data that may need to be understood for impacts and/or opportunities.

    Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies and procedures, financial data, personal information, and work-related events.

    Provide quality support and maintain a professional relationship with peers, management, other staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust and respect.

    Perform other duties as assigned, when needed.


    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.
    Intermediate to advanced capabilities with SQL.
    Experience developing statistical models or advanced analytics with R, Python, and/or SAS.
    Proven successful experience developing visualizations with Tableau or a similar BI tool.
    Ability to organize and manipulate data sets to extrapolate conclusions.
    Working knowledge and awareness of statistical techniques (regression modeling, classification, etc.).
    Knowledge of and experience with software development teams, industry best practices, regulations & compliance, and quality assurance techniques.
    Able to identify and research data anomalies (e.g. mismatched records, nulls, repeating records).
    Excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
    Strong problem solving skills.
    Experience in an Agile/Scrum Development environment preferred.
    Excellent task management, organizational, and communication skills with great attention to detail.
    Excellent written skills to formalize recommendations to Senior Management.
    Able to be productive without supervision.
    Willing to learn using available resources.
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to solicit participation and input from others.
    Experience with MS-Office with particularly strong skills in Word, Visio, and Excel .


    Education/Experience/Certifications:

    Education :
    Bachelor's degree, relevant professional qualification or acceptable industry experience required.

    Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience developing statistical models or advance analytics. Previous experience in Financial Service strongly preferred.
