    American Humane is seeking an experienced Vice President, Public Relations & Entertainment Industry Engagement to work as a member of the Hollywood team on identifying strategic opportunities, forging key partnerships and driving programmatic and revenue growth through engagement with the entertainment industry and general public. This position will be hybrid and report directly to the SVP & Chief Operating Officer and work collaboratively with the VP, American Humane Hollywood and other key leadership within the organization.     Position summary:
    The Vice President, Public Relations & Entertainment Industry Engagement, is focused on identifying strategic opportunities, forging key partnerships and driving programmatic and revenue growth through engagement with the entertainment industry and general public. The VP is responsible for developing and managing relationships with key industry stakeholders and conveying to stakeholders and the public the importance and value of the organization's mission and work of the American Humane (AH) Hollywood No Animals Were Harmed (NAWH) end credit certification program. This role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the entertainment industry and key players, exceptional strategic thinking and public relations skills, a collaborative mindset, and drive and ambition to succeed. This position reports directly to the SVP & Chief Operating Officer and works collaboratively with the VP, AH Hollywood and other key leadership within the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work collaboratively with SVP & COO, VP, AH Hollywood and organizational leadership to develop program promotion and outreach strategy.
    • Lead the day-to-day management of AH's strategic entertainment industry relations, including identifying and pursuing opportunities to position AH as the industry leader in protecting the welfare and wellbeing of animals in film and television.
    • Successfully execute on strategy, building and fostering productive, ongoing relationships with current and new key stakeholders and decision makers in Hollywood, and, as the program grows, in international film and television industries.
    • Conduct research to understand where decisions are made and who the key stakeholders are for advancing and supporting the program and broader organization.
    • Conduct data analysis to identify trends and develop a prospect pipeline to benefit the NAWH program and AH's overall mission and work.
    • Educate the entertainment industry on the importance of the NAWH certification program.
    • Initiate outreach, developing and delivering compelling proposals and presentations that demonstrate the value of AH and the NAWH certification program.
    • Work collaboratively with the marketing and communications teams to pursue opportunities to pitch and share the AH story and good work through traditional and online media, including social media and other platforms.
    • Attend and represent AH at industry events, including conferences, film festivals, meetings, and conferences, positioning the organization as the thought leader in the space.
    • Organize and coordinate AH-led industry roundtables as appropriate.
    • Identify ways AH Hollywood NAWH's monitoring services and certification program can add value to productions and demonstrate this value to those stakeholders.
    • Keep abreast of general trends and what is happening in the film and television industry and keep organizational leadership updated on anything that may impact the organization.
    Essential experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:
    • 10+ years of related experience in the entertainment industry with a focus on messaging and industry relations.
    • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in public relations or related field strongly preferred.
    • Experience working with or in nonprofit organizations desired.
    • Proven ability to identify decision makers and build and maintain lasting, mutually beneficial relationships.
    • Proven ability to quickly and effectively respond to public relations challenges or issues.
    • Ability to develop engaging and clear communications tailored to different audiences and platforms.
    • Strong communication skills with ability to present, write and edit, and to do so in a clear, concise, well-organized and well-articulated manner.
    • Self-disciplined, entrepreneurial, action-oriented style that thrives in a fast-paced, high-stress, high-stakes environment.
    • Demonstrates strong work ethic with ability to remain productive and focused.
    • Think strategically and proactively, take initiative and see tasks through to completion with appropriate follow-up.

    • Excellent organizational and project management skills to effectively see goals through to realized outcomes.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer and office technology including Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to quickly learn software specific to department or institution.

    Physical demands and work environment:
    • Position will be a hybrid of office/telework with the position based out of the Studio City, CA office location and regular telework schedule based on organizational policy and manager discretion.
    • Must be comfortable with animals in the office and at events.
    • Estimated, up to 25% travel, mostly local, with some domestic and international travel as needed.
    • Occasional need for hours beyond regular office hours, including some evening or weekend work.
    • Note any physical requirements related to lifting or performing special functions.
    • While performing the duties of this position, the employee will regularly be required to:
      • Sit or stand for extended periods,
      • Look at and work off of a computer screen for extended periods.
      • Talk, hear and exchange information over the telephone, video screen and in person.
