    TSA Systems Engineer (Transportation Security Administration)


    This is primarily a WFH role. Being a prime does require travel to the TSA's HQ, the TSIF, and our office located in Crystal City on occasion (quarterly?), and of course for mentorship purposes, more often at first.

    The primary focus of this position is acquisition and engineering support in developing acquisition documentation for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checked baggage screening technologies.

    As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for interpretation and implementation of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) acquisition policy and the Acquisition Directive (AD) 102 framework in support of the TSA's requirements and program offices, working within a multi-disciplinary team of Federal employees and contractors. DOD 5000 acquisition experience is directly applicable here and has a similar framework as DHS AD 102.

    In this role, you will:

    · Develop documentation supporting the entire life cycle of checked baggage screening equipment.

    · Assess mission needs, capability gaps, assess alternatives, and develop concept of operations.

    · Perform user needs analysis and iterative requirements elicitation spanning operational requirements to functional and technical requirements, striving for production of testable requirements content.



    Requirements

    · MUST HAVE U.S. CITIZENSHIP

    · Security Clearance: Must have or be eligible to receive a DHS Secret security clearance.

    · DHS Suitability: Must pass DHS Suitability/DHS Financial Responsibility Standards screening.

    · Education: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering, or a related field such as math or physics.

    KNOWLEDGE AREAS

    · Knowledge in systems engineering, systems development methodology, project management.

    · Knowledge of DHS and/or TSA Acquisition Life Cycle Frameworks.

    · Knowledge of the DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).

    EXPERIENCE

    · Minimum of five years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or three plus years with a Master's Degree.

    · Hands-on experience implementing DHS AD 102 policy or Department of Defense (DoD) 5000 equivalent.

    · Hands-on experience in requirements development, traceability, verification, and validation.

    ABILITIES

    · Ability to work in a team setting alongside a lead role in supporting the client's Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) in development of life cycle documentation and operational, functional, and technical requirements, producing such documents as a Mission Need Statement (MNS), Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Operational Requirements Document (ORD) and Functional Requirements Document (FRD).

    · Strong organizational skills and ability to manage the production of several deliverables in different project areas simultaneously. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

    · 3+ years of prior experience with federal acquisition policy and hands-on requirements development.
