    Your Role

    As a Behavioral Health Care Management Clinician, Senior at Blue Shield of California, you will play a vital part in helping our members navigate the healthcare system for behavioral health linkages to providers, treatment, and programs. This role requires an intensive focus on crisis intervention, counseling, problem-solving, conflict resolution, patient and family management, interdisciplinary collaboration, psychosocial assessments, education, advocacy, and community resource linkages.

    Your Work

    In this role, your key responsibilities include:

    • Collaborating with case managers and other team members to conduct thorough member assessments related to social and resource needs, ensuring timely access to services
    • Serving as a liaison between service coordination staff and external providers to ensure accurate responses to member needs
    • Working closely with care teams to support members' treatment plans and care needs
    • Recognizing clients' rights to self-determination and autonomy, including informed choices that may not always align with optimal outcomes
    • Evaluating members' health behaviors, cultural influences, and belief systems to identify potential barriers to effective treatment plans
    • Efficiently managing a caseload of members for behavioral health care coordination and BH case management, focusing on those experiencing severe and persistent mental illness
    • Maintaining an active workload aligned with National Care Manager performance standards
    • Providing information to members and providers regarding mental health and substance abuse benefits, community resources, and company policies
    • Interacting with Utilization departments and Physician Advisors to discuss clinical concerns and questions
    • Coordinating services with state and community programs on behalf of members who are unable to do so independently
    • Reporting mandated incidents to the appropriate government agencies
    • Participating actively in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings and case consultations with licensed managers

    Your Knowledge and Experience

    To excel in this role, you will need:

    • A current, unrestricted CA License (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Registered Nurse (RN), or PsyD) from the Board of Behavioral Health Sciences
    • An advanced degree commensurate with your field of practice is preferred
    • At least five years of relevant experience, including three years in behavioral health
    • Certification as a Case Manager is a plus
    • Experience conducting thorough psychosocial assessments, developing care plans, and providing interventions with complex client populations
    • Considerable knowledge of various psychosocial challenges and familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses and treatment
    • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
