    Description


    The Manager of Data Engineering will champion value creation through data, analytics, and data governance as strategic disciplines, will lead the ongoing review and development of the data architecture strategy to increase business agility and manage evolving complexities; and in partnership with the analytics leadership team transform analytics and insights into action throughout the business.

    Responsibilities

    Develop Data Strategy:
    understand Murphy USA's business and develop an enterprise data strategy in alignment with the enterprise business strategy

    • Oversee Data Management and

    Data Governance:
    build tactical aspects of executing on the strategy and drive a culture of governance to ensure that all lines of business take ownership in preserving data value, security, and integrity through enterprise wide process, deploying data quality framework, metadata management, data lineage, catalog, business glossary

    • Drive Execution and

    Data Technology:

    establish and manage the implementation roadmap and strategic priorities for end to end delivery of trusted data, leading transformation and enhancement of technical capabilities and data technology stack.

    Other Responsibilities Include

    • Drive agile development of enterprise data capabilities in iterations, with focus on improvement of data quality, security, transparency, and time to insight
    • Define roles, responsibilities and processes for data management and governed data delivery
    • Serve as a liaison between business and technology teams to deliver business value, resolve conflicts and ensure collaboration
    • Deliver effective and transparent communication on data delivery, timelines and priorities
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data centric technologies that support cost reduction, security, risk mitigation, revenue generation and improvement in delivery
    • Provide deep data knowledge and expertise encompassing advanced data analytics, supporting infrastructure, automation, and application technologies
    • Ensure design, development, and execution of data pipelines
    • Manage vendors and outsourced teams of engineers and developers
    • Own and manage budgets, SLAs, and continuous improvement practices for Data Operations
    • Own data architecture strategy and contribute to cloud architecture design and solutioning
    • Oversee on premise and cloud data environments, data migration and integration Requirements
    • Masters or bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics or Analytic
    • 10+ years of hands on experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles, creating and leading performant data organizations, managing data delivery and analytics, data warehousing, data lakes, data infrastructure and operations, data governance and BI
    • Experience in Retail or CPG industries is a plus
    • Experience implementing data protection and security policies and controls
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, working in a highly matrixed organization through a combination of influence, partnership and inspiration
    • Ability to grow teams by attracting and developing talent, coaching and mentoring
    • Comfort with change, working in complex and ambiguous situations
    • Ability to collaborate and build trusted relationships across the organization
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Understanding of advanced analytics and data science techniques
    • Experience with technologies, such as Azure Synapse, MS SSIS, ETL, DataBricks, Snowflake, Big Data tech stacks, RDMBS, NoSQL, SQL, Python or R
