    SUMMARY:


    Our team is looking for an energetic and organized Senior System Safety Engineer who will be an integral participant in the design/development process and are responsible for leading and performing safety analyses to identify, resolve/mitigate hazards and identify risks in human flight space systems.

    In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team responsible for Flight Systems Safety, and you will interface with hardware engineers, safety engineers, and representatives from other subsystems to plan, document, and execute effective strategies for eliminating and/or minimizing risk.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Mentoring on-staff System Safety Engineers on S&MA processes and best practices

    Conducting system level hazard analysis for the Axiom Station, Axiom Exploration Extravehicular Activity System (AxEVAS) or payloads on Private Astronaut Missions to the International Space Station (ISS) implementation

    Conducting Safety Analyses/documenting results (Preliminary Hazards Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Hazard Tracking, Functional Hazard, Fault Tree, and Safety Assessments)

    Generation of Hazard Reports, defining hazard causes and their mitigation/control strategies

    Assist with the definition and maintenance of system level control strategies, including Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) strategies, hazardous mitigation, and system

    Participate in and support the System Safety Working Groups, Safety Review Panels, Technical Interchange and Change Review Board meetings

    Coordinating with verification and validation (V&V) personnel to ensure safety-critical requirements are tested at an acceptable level of rigor

    Perform anomaly and nonconformance analysis, tracking and resolution verification

    Develop S&MA reports/presentations to S&MA and program leadership

    Develop System Safety engineering processes and procedures

    Provide support to all Axiom programs as required

    Other duties as assigned


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education & Experience

    15 years of experience as a Systems Safety Engineer in the human spaceflight field

    3+ years of experience working with NASA Safety Review Panels (SRP)

    Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science, or other technical related field

    Experience developing and reviewing hazard analyses, fault trees, and safety assessments

    Planning, performing analyses, and reporting results

    Work Environment:
    Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

    Requirements

    Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

    Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

    Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

    Physical Requirements

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).

    May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

    Ability to operate standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

    Skills

    Experience designing to and/or assessing system safety per relevant NASA requirements and best-practices

    Familiarity with NASA Safety &Mission Assurance (S&MA) and SRP processes, practices, and requirements

    Knowledge of best practices for hardware safety, and verification and validation

    Excellent interpersonal skill

    Excellent communication skill, verbal and written
