    The Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative (The Cooperative) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) coalition of healthcare professionals and consumers licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health as the maternal and child health consortium serving the seven counties of South Jersey. For over 40 years the Cooperative has been at the forefront of developing innovative strategies in maternal and child health care. We work to improve the region's health by educating communities, advocating for system improvements, and engaging with stakeholders.

    Under the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grant, the Health Educator is responsible for expanding existing evidence based Get Real and Teen Outreach Program (TOP) curriculum to high school aged youth in a variety of settings. The Health Educator collaborates with the PREP team to identify and engage schools to implement Get Real curriculum while maintaining program fidelity.

    Essential Functions:

    The Health Educator will contribute to The Cooperative's commitment to equity and continuous quality improvement that aligns with the agency's mission, goals, and advancement. * Effectively cross-collaborate with agency staff, leaders, and board members to foster a comprehensive approach of information sharing, working committees, and collective representation. * Routinely disseminate relevant information, presentations, training, and learning opportunities for internal program and agency staff. * When applicable, the Health Educator will participate in relevant staff development opportunities (training, summits, conferences, etc.) to increase skill development, elevate program goals, and engage staff members with timely key learnings. * Facilitates Get Real and TOP curriculum in high schools with youth ages 15 – 18; in assigned counties/municipalities. * Maintains curriculum fidelity. * Assists with the development and promotion of regional resources for youth health and teen pregnancy prevention services. * Attends webinars, teleconferences, and other technology-based meetings. * Assures and maintains a safe space and confidentiality for all youth at program delivery and activities. * Maintains accurate documentation of all contacts, outreach and follow up. * Maintain accurate documentation of participant information and curriculum forms. * Submits reports and data collection tools as required to comply with grant obligations.

    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in health education preferred
    • 3 years' experience working with young people in school and community settings
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, shows initiative, can work independently
    • Organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload requirements
    • Ability to be flexible and adapt to working in different settings
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Experience with social media
    • Knowledge of both urban and rural community resources
    • Ability to develop rapport with youth from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
    • Valid driver's license, car, and current insurance policy

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to see to read documents and hear well enough to communicate with others
    • Must be able to write, type on a computer, and use a telephone
    • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
    • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
    • Additional requirements to be determined with input from Director and HR

    Work Environment:

    Travels regularly to sites where traffic, weather, and other environmental conditions may be encountered; otherwise works in a climate-controlled professional office environment generally free from hazards and other adverse working conditions.
