    Description

    Job Summary: Join our team in the Emergency Department and provide direct nursing care to assigned patients. Foster a positive work environment by serving as a role model and demonstrating excellence in patient care. Ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include a variety of age groups.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required
    • Implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
    • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
    • Participate in orientation and preceptor training; assume evaluation responsibilities for new personnel
    • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
    • Administer medication via proper protocol; document and communicate clinical findings
    • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards
    • Enhance professional growth and development through education and participation in training programs, meetings and workshops
    • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
    • Identify potential patient safety concerns, report/correct environmental conditions and situations affecting patient wellbeing, and report safety concerns and medical errors in a timely manner
    • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting issues

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
    • Active RN license in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by New Mexico
    • Bilingual in English and one of the following: Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
    • BLS certification for Healthcare Providers or Professional Rescuers, CPR required
    • National certification in area of specialty (preferred)
    • PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC certifications (preferred)

    Physical Requirements:

    • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical demands are greater than those of Medium Work.

    Working Conditions:

    • Hazardous chemical and biological materials requiring personal protective equipment may be present in the work environment.
