Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specification, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine control or control media as requiredVerify conformance of finished workpiece to specification, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM)Operates equipment within a cell with multiple machines to produce high quality parts within prescribed routed time to meet production demandsChanges inserts/tools and makes the necessary offsets to continue to make parts per blueprint and process specificationsMaintains equipment via established preventative maintenance schedulesFollows all prescribed quality procedures and inspection plansPerforms 1st piece inspections and monitors own work to meet process requirements including fully documenting inspection reports developed by the Quality departmentVerifies that the inspection equipment being utilized is in calibration and performs a simple daily check against a known master to ensure the accuracy of the gage to be usedFollows supervisor's direction to troubleshoot problem processes, interfacing with Manufacturing Engineers if necessaryAbility to solve inspection problems and develop new approachesWorks from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensionsCommunicates directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assemblyChecks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerancesMay identify and repair minor machine malfunctionsPromptly and accurately completes all required recordkeepingKeeps surrounding area clean, safe and organizedResponsible for keeping all labor hours with time system accuratelyAny additional duties as assignedRequired Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalentCNC Lathe with live toolingMust be able to read and interpret documents such as drawings and routings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsMust be able to use micrometer, drop indicator and dial/digital caliperAbility to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively with management, co-workers and other departmentsPreferences:CNC programming skillsOne (1) to two (2) years' experience on a swiss machineSafety/Physical RequirementsFrequent to constant use of their hands and fingers, to handle or feel, and to manipulate in a variety of different body positions or posturesFrequent to constant holding, grabbing, grasping, pinching, turning or otherwise working with hands and fingers ranging from dexterous to forceful in natureFrequent to constant lifting or exertion of force of up to 35 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbsThe employee is constantly or frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, frequently to climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlVision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to judge dimensions and spatial relationships"Creating better together".
