    Description
    Under the general management of the Associate Director and the Manager for Pharmacy Services, the Evening Lead Pharmacist will ensure that the system is functional and operational. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
    Education
  • Bachelor's degree BS in Pharmacy Required
  • Pharm.D. Required
  • Experience
  • 3-4 years Hospital pharmacy experience (with IV admixture) Preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications
  • DC. License Required
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work well with others, make decisions, problem solve, communicate and delegate responsibility.
  • Demonstrates supervisory and coaching skills..
  • Needs basic mathematical skills and a working knowledge of the metric system.
  • Must be proficient at reading.
  • Responsible for all the activities outlined in the Pharmacist job description.
  • Responsible for all managerial issues that occur during the shift.
  • Works closely with Pharmacy Informatics and the Manager of Pharmacy Services to maintain the Pyxis system during the shift.
  • Participates in the training and/or orientation of new pharmacy employees or volunteers.
  • Works closely with management to implement workflow changes accordingly as it affects the shift.
  • Actively contribute to the planning and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Actively contributes to the evaluation and continued improvement of patient services, policies and procedures.
  • Assures compliance with safety and security policy and procedures.
  • Check queues hourly to see status of orders in queues
  • Performs quality improvement activities such as code carts checking.
  • Perform narcotics zone refill between 2000 and 2100 daily
  • Ensure that returned medications are credited and restocked
  • Maintain productive, collaborative relationships with the nurse managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that their needs are met.
  • Demonstrates excellence in internal and external customer service ability in the areas of communication and service (i.e. answering the telephone after 3 rings and responding to issues in a timely manner).
