    Title: Associate Staff I

    Reports To: Senior Associate
    Associate and/or Manager

    Associates at Tidwell Group build the foundation of their career at this associate level. Associates are responsible for performing assigned work accurately and efficiently under the direct supervision of an engagement leader. Associates will work in a team setting, take initiative, seek complex work, take instruction from their supervisors, take notes and properly apply this knowledge and training to future engagements. They should look to continuously grow and evolve within the firm. This requires the ability to focus on the details of the engagement to verify the accuracy or identify errors within a work paper or procedure. The most important thing an associate can do is to research, ask questions and hone their professional judgement to prepare them for their next role within the firm.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Technical Skills

    · Develops technical skills and working knowledge of the industry, U.S. GAAP, IRS, and AICPA regulations and code of ethics;

    · Utilizes analytical and critical thinking skills and applies this knowledge to client engagements;

    · Reads books, articles and utilizes firm provided research tools to grow their knowledge;

    · Assists and shares knowledge with interns and peers;

    · Completes 40 hours of continued professional education annually (regardless of certification status).

    Interpersonal Skills

    · Acts with integrity and a high regard for professionalism and character;

    · Seeks feedback and accepts constructive criticism;

    · Is a team player and has the ability to work independently within the team environment;

    · Works well with others across the firm.

    Effective Communication Skills

    · Communicates on a daily basis with engagement leaders and supervisors, keeping leadership informed of the status of work;

    · Is a good listener, takes information received and applies to future engagements;

    · Communicates when they do not understand a task or process;

    · Is responsive and interacts positively with all staff, clients and third parties;

    · Is detailed and effective in interpersonal written and oral communications;

    · Utilizes proper grammatical and spelling skills.

    Productivity

    · Completes assigned projects efficiently, demonstrating self-review and makes decisions regarding routine work with minimal oversight
    by Senior Associates;

    · Takes ownership of deliverables and strives to meet/exceed deadlines informing supervisors of any delays;

    · Abides by firm policies and procedures.

    Leadership Skills

    · Accepts increasing responsibility for client engagements, including professional client communication, tracking a client family's engagement status, etc.;

    · Answers intern questions and assists in continued training for interns;

    · Handles multiple tasks simultaneously, accurately and efficiently while meeting deadlines;

    · Adheres to the highest degree of professional standards and strict firm and client confidentiality.

    Business Development Skills

    · Maintains contact with college classmates, either by use of technology or alumni groups;

    · Looks for networking opportunities inside and outside of the Firm;

    · Looks for volunteer opportunities inside and outside of the Firm;

    · Joins relevant industry groups and business groups on social media;

    · Familiarizes themselves with what services the Firm can provide;

    · Presents themselves as a professional within and outside of the Firm.
