    Role Summary:
    Reporting directly to the CFO, the VP, Controller will be responsible for leading the controllership function for Saks.

    This role leads all accounting operational functions, oversees internal control and accounting systems, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, and drives a team of financial professionals across Accounting, Sales Audit, Financial Reporting, Payroll, Tax, and Accounts Payable.


    Key Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree in

    Finance/Accounting/Related

    field
    12+ years of related experience with previous experience leading the Controllership function
    Experience working for a public and/or a pre-IPO company ideal
    Previous experience working in consumer goods/luxury/retail or digital company is a plus
    CPA and/or CMA license required
    Strong understanding of business operations and their accounting implications
    Keen understanding of account reconciliations an experience overseeing large

    transactions
    Previous experience managing the financial reporting process, overseeing review of monthly and

    quarterly close, account reconciliations, and large transactions
    Entrepreneurial spirit with the agility to thrive in a dynamic and hyper-growth environment
    Superb leadership skills including strategic thinking, fostering teamwork, cultivating relationships, and proven experience leading teams through change

    Role Description:
    Leads the general accounting function, including Accounting, Financial Reporting, Sales

    Audit, Financial Controls, Indirect Tax, Accounts Payable, and Payroll
    Seen as a lead subject matter expert and thought partner, providing controllership and

    accounting expertise for the organization
    Lead and develop a high performing team of financial and accounting professionals– setting clear

    goals, providing guidance to the team, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration
    Plays a significant role in any business related transactions with a focus on SOX compliance
    Key partner to internal, cross-company, and external stakeholders including lenders and external

    auditors
    Responsible for smooth & timely completions of internal and external audits
    Oversees the P&L and timely monthly reporting and analysis of all financial activities and

    accounting operational functions, including review of key journal entries and account

    reconciliations
    Oversees a system of controls and risk management procedures to safeguard the organization,

    ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory

    controls
    Oversight of large transactions and the financial reporting process, review of monthly and quarterly close and preparation of financial statements
    Oversees regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
    Assesses current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and

    implementing new processes
    Provides executive level analysis and interpretation of financial results
    Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
