    :


    JOBPURPOSE:

    Provides physical therapy services fora designated group of patients, assisting them to reach highestlevel of physical independence. Conducts physical therapyevaluations, modalities, and treatments to restore function,relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease or injury.
    Provides patient care to all age groups to include pediatric, adultand geriatric. Responsible for the care of patients treated byphysical therapist assistants. May be responsible for orientationand ongoing guidance of assignedstaff.

    Qualifications:


    MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:

    Graduate of anaccredited Physical Therapy program with a BS, MS, or DPT. Mustmaintain current CEUs as required by the State. 2 years of NICUEXPERIENCED REQUIRED.


    MINIMUMEXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

    None.


    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:

    Current Georgia Physical TherapistLicense or current compact privileges in Georgia. BLS certificationthrough AHA.


    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:

    2 years ofexperience preferred.


    KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Providesprofessional physical therapy services to all age groups, to ensurequality of patient care and to restore function.
    a.
    Maintains patient record including evaluations, plan of care, andprogress notes, documenting patient responses to treatment andpatent education. Uses objective data with clear and conciselanguage in the patient record.
    b. Provides direct patientcare, utilizing modalities and techniques appropriate for patientsfrom pediatrics to geriatrics. Demonstrates skills and accuracy inperforming patient care, conducting tests and measurements asappropriate.

    • Assists with measuring quality andoutcomes.
    • Consults with physicians, nursing staff, andother rehabilitative team members to determine plan of action forthe patient including therapeutic modifications and dischargeplanning.
    • Maintains and documents active and supportivecommunication with the patient, and other appropriate persons,concerning progress, problems, home programs, and other issuesrelated to the therapeutic process.
    • Delegates treatmentprograms and other responsibilities to support staff as appropriateto the skill/competencylevels.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,ABILITIES
    Possess instructionalskills and knowledge of educational techniques.
    Possessleadership skills in critical thinking.
    Must have theability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, withother healthcare personnel, patients, families, andphysicians.
    Must have the emotional stamina to deal witha variety of stressful situations including emergency response topatient incidents.
    Requires tact, discretion, diplomacy,and ability to work effectively with others.
    Has anability to evaluate and/or interpret information and makeindependent decisions.
    Must have sensory skills todifferentiate clinical signs and symptoms.
    Possessesappropriate interpersonal and organizational skills.
    Mustbe able to read, write, speak and understand the Englishlanguage.

    Must be able to organize work, to delegateeffectively, and to direct and oversee the work of assistants,techs, and other healthcare providers.
