    RWJ Hamilton is looking for aSr. Medical Technologist


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem-solving, teaching and supervision of the department.
    Acts as coach/ cheerleader in the department in building consensus and staff motivation to exceeding departmental and hospital goals.


    • Produces accurate medical diagnostic test results, manually and with instrumentation within departmental timelines in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
    ED TAT a minimum of 70 percent of the selected tests reported < 60 minutes from order to result.

    ICU TAT a minimum of 90 percent of the selected tests reported < 90 minutes from receipt to result.


    • Monitors test results for unusual, abnormal or unreasonable results and performs confirmatory testing and troubleshooting per departmental procedures and best practices with directorial oversight.
    • Maintains cross-training competency in at-least two departments: chemistry, hematology, blood bank or microbiology and completes annual competency assessments and assigned proficiency testing within departmental timelines.
    • Performs repairs, maintenance, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on lab instruments and equipment with directorial oversight per departmental and manufacturers specifications.
    Acts as key operator for equipment as needed.


    • Reviews, updates and corrects all QC, QA, PM and repair records required by accreditation agencies CAP, AABB, JC and State of New Jersey/ to insure full compliance , accreditation and minimal deficiencies cited during inspections.
    Less than 2 phase II deficiencies per department.


    • Assumes the lead on PI, special projects and test validations to improve TAT, expand test menu and grow outpatient business.
    • Provides backup coverage for the Director for reagent and supply ordering, repairs and staffing coverage.
    Less than 3 rush orders per month.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Meets education and experience equivalent to the guidelines mandated by Centers for Graduate from an approved School of Medical Technology
    • MT or MLT certification from ASCP or HEW equivalent
    • Six years working experience including one to three years supervisor experience preferred
