    Summary

    Technical Specialist 1 assists in designing, developing, implementing, and analyzing technical systems and facilities for MTA C&D. This role performs routine technical design tasks with standard techniques. Assists more senior technical specialists in preparing plans, designs, computation methods, and reports.

    Responsibilities

    Performs technical tasks by developing knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.

    Provides technical support on multiple design projects, including analyzing and documenting critical design elements.

    Provides technical field support for system/equipment installation and related project construction.

    Coordinates and communicates with team members to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.

    Coordinates with Agency Owners, designers, contractors, outside consultants, and other government agencies.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate technical field, Engineering Technology/Engineering Science, or an equivalent subject.

    Must have a minimum of four (4) years of related experience.

    A satisfactory equivalent of specialized experience in planning, specification, design, and/or installation inspection of railroad signal systems may be substituted for the educational requirement, subject to approval.

    Competencies:

    Must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Working knowledge of relevant industry standards and installation practices is a plus.

    Analytical ability, pro-active attitude, willingness to learn, and an ability to think "outside the box" when required.

    A general understanding of current design, engineering software, and Microsoft Office is required.
