Job Title: Bakery Assistant – St. Paul (Advanced Youth Leadership Position)
Organization Summary
Cookie Cart provides teens 15 to 18 years old with lasting and meaningful work, life, and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery. Combining hands-on work experience, classroom work readiness training, formal customer service education, skills certification and financial literacy classes, Cookie Cart helps teens develop the foundational tools they need to be successful in education and career in North Minneapolis and Saint Paul's East Side. Hourly Wage: $15.25 per hour
Work Schedule: Varies
- Part-Time position
- Shifts Available: Sunday - Friday, 10am to 5pm
- Must be able to work at least 3 - 4 shifts per week
- Flexibility is a plus
Timeline of Position: 6 months - 1 year
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous Cookie Cart experience (preferred)
- Must be between 18 – 21 years of age
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily Cookie Production & Inventory
- Follow production lists and daily task lists during each shift
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Uphold compost/recycling/trash/ expectations
- Conduct regular inspection of cookies during each stage of production (traying, baking, and the packing of orders)
- Open/close the bakery
- Support with regular inventory and organizing tasks
- Support with the creation of new procedures for the bakery.
- Provide job training for Interns and Cart Captains
- Demonstrate proper scooping, cookie placement and cookie transfer procedures
- Delegate tasks to youth employees
- Be willing to co-facilitate training for youth employees (example: "How to Succeed in the Bakery and Customer Service
- Provide direct feedback to youth regarding their work performance
- Role Model Appropriate Work Behavior & Expectations (Brand Ambassador)
- Report any questions, concerns or changes that you are experiencing to one of your supervisors first (Production Supervisors)
- Adhere to the dress code
- Have work appropriate conversations
- Demonstrate ability to follow attendance and communication guidelines
- Support with volunteer groups by providing bakery tours as needed and providing work direction in the bakery

- Attend or complete trainings assigned to you in a timely manner
- Remember that work expectations should be followed whenever you are at work, including spaces outside of the bakery (training room, break space, site visits, events, etc)
