    Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description The Legislative Research Commission is accepting applications for the position of Legislative Network SoftwareSupport Specialist in the Office of Computing and Information Technology. This position is nonpartisan innature and requires the ability to work with neutrality in a politically charged environment.

    The Legislative Research Commission provides staff support to the Kentucky General Assembly.     The individual selected for this position must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention todetail, and be public service oriented with the ability to maintain a good rapport with LRC staff, stateemployees, and the general public. The individual must be able to work under stress, with the understandingthat during legislative sessions and occasionally during the interim period, working significant amounts ofovertime will be required.

    This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits including health and life insurance; retirement plan;and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. Compensatory time is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with priorapproval.

    Job Duties:
  • Provide daily computer assistance to LRC staff and legislators.
  • Onsite and Remote
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • General Hardware questions
  • General Software questions
  • Remote technologies
  • VoIP Devices
  • Video Conferencing
  • Basic network problems
  • Other technology as needed
  • Begin using Active Directory for password resets and network account activities.
  • Begin using remote control software to connect to other computers.
  • Assist with training presentations.
  • Assist with equipment in committee rooms.
  • Log all service desk interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Beginning knowledge of service desk concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and detail-oriented skill set.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet specific deadlines.

  • Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: An associate's degree in computer science or related field. Microsoft Office SpecialistCertification preferred.
