    JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Lead provides leadership and technical support for Head Start facilities maintenance specialists. This position oversees maintenance projects, supports and trains maintenance specialists, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, manages work orders, maintains accurate inventory, and coordinates vendor relationships. The Facilities Lead plays a key role in ensuring that Head Start facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
    * This position is full-time, 44 weeks per year.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Lead and mentor maintenance specialists, providing technical guidance and training.
    • Oversee and coordinate Head Start maintenance projects, ensuring timely and quality completion.
    • Manage and track maintenance work orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Order parts, supplies, and equipment needed for maintenance and repairs; maintain accurate inventory records.
    • Provide logistical and technical support to Head Start sites, including troubleshooting and remote assistance.
    • Work with Operations team to ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations at Head Start facilities.
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Coordinate vendor relationships with HS Operations Manager, including scheduling, contract compliance, and performance evaluation.
    • Prepare reports on facility status, maintenance activities, and inventory for management.
    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Participates in all appropriate training functions, developing and leading workshops, presenting at conferences, etc.
    • Performs day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining files, entering invoices, processing information, and general paperwork
    • Maintaining regular communication with maintenance specialists, Regional Managers, and Head Start Operations Manager
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or hours may vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
    TRAVEL:
    Travel is primarily local during the business day. Required travel to and within rural Alaskan communities by small plane and alternate ground transportation up to five weeks per program year.
    EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprints.
    • High school diploma plus 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
    • Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
    • Employees are expected to remain alert, attentive, and fully engaged in their responsibilities during all working hours. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited.
    • Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignments with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.
    • Demonstrated intermediate level computer skills necessary to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook required.
    • Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.
    • Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.
    • Must have a valid driver's License and maintain a valid driver's license throughout the course of employment. Must provide a copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles annually.
    • Must have an insured vehicle, present proof of insurance, and maintain proof of insurance throughout the course of employment.
    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • AA or certification in building construction, renovation, or facility maintenance preferred.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance and operations, with leadership responsibilities.
    • Preferred experience working with rural Alaskan communities and maintaining facilities in remote environments.
