    Role Overview:
    Conduct a range of clerical tasks at the front and back office to support the designated area. This includes gathering patient information, acquiring medical histories, carrying out treatment procedures, preparing sterilized instruments, maintaining a clean workspace, scheduling appointments, and confirming insurance coverage. You may also handle basic cashiering duties, ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental guidelines. Patient care responsibilities may involve individuals across different age groups.

    Key Responsibilities:
    * PATIENT CENTERED MED - Uphold and advocate the core principles of Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice, as appropriate
    * PATIENT CARE - Assist in preparing for patient care such as admissions, transfers, and discharges; process prescription orders; aid providers in various treatment procedures including setting up sterile environments and providing chaperone assistance
    * PATIENT CARE - Conduct routine non-invasive treatment procedures like saturation, administration, and urine tests; may also perform invasive procedures like phlebotomy, ear irrigation, catheterization, and EKGs
    * MEDICATION - Administer medications, including injections, oral and ocular drops, ensuring accurate documentation and communication of clinical observations (Post completion of UNMH MA Medication Administration course)
    * PATIENT CARE - Conduct basic patient screenings; record vital signs, chief complaints, and patient data; report any changes in patient condition to appropriate staff
    * DATA - Input data into systems and forms; validate and correct information for accuracy; schedule appointments; field and route phone calls; take and pass on messages to providers
    * CASHIER - Handle basic cashiering tasks; collect payments for various services; manage cash registers
    * ENVIRONMENT - Maintain cleanliness in patient care areas, equipment, and tools; report equipment issues; replenish supplies; manage inventory levels
    * CUSTOMER SERVICE - Deliver and ensure high-quality service for customer satisfaction
    * RELATED WORK - Fulfill additional duties and tasks as necessary
    * PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Adhere to patient safety protocols and guidelines
    * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Proactively enhance patient safety by identifying opportunities for improvement in current policies and processes
    * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and address environmental conditions that could jeopardize patient safety
    * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Promptly report potential or actual safety concerns, medical errors, or near misses
    * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to take an active role in their care by asking questions and raising concerns

    Requirements


    Education:
    Essential:
    * High School or GED Equivalent
    * Program Graduate
    * Course
    Education specialization:
    Essential:
    * MA accredited program graduate or 2 years of MA experience confirmed on DD Form 214
    * UNMH MA Safe Med Admin Course Completion within 90 Days

    Experience:
    Essential:
    No minimum experience required

    Nonessential:
    1 year of directly relevant experience
    Bilingual in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo

    Credentials:
    Essential:
    * CPR certification for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days

    Physical Conditions:
    Heavy Work: Occasional exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force, frequent exertion of 25 to 50 pounds of force, and constant exertion of 10 to 20 pounds of force in moving objects or people. Physical demands exceed those of Medium Work.

    Working conditions:
    Essential:
    * Significant Hazard: Exposure to chemicals, Bio hazardous materials requiring Personal Protective Equipment
    * May involve travel to different work locations
    * Limited access to medication room. Refer to Medical Administration Policy, Attachment A
    * Rotation of work shifts may be required or is mandatory
