Description
The Buyer is responsible for procuring products within assigned planner codes in a timely and cost-effective manner.This role will lead initiatives and projects to resolve quality and delivery concerns to take proactive steps to eliminate or reduce risk to the company.
Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.
We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.
Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries.
Procure products within assigned commodity areas in a timely and cost effective manner
Identify and reduce long lead times in the system by utilizing material strategies with suppliers
Review daily MRP exception message, purchase order status, and order action reports and take appropriate action
Must know when/where to buy goods and services
Resolve material price variances
Identify alternate solutions for obsolete components and work with engineering for approval
Ensure timely delivery of products to support manufacturing
Maintain purchasing data in computer system so that it is always current
vendor information for all assigned parts in the system
Intermediate level of computer skills in e-mail, internet, Word, and Excel
Experience dealing with suppliers including quoting, order processing and tracking delivery and quality performance
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
1-5 years relevant purchasing experience required in a manufacturing environment preferred
