- Assist our customers to have a superior networking experience.
- Triage/troubleshoot networking issues at layers 1 and 2 of the open systems interconnect model.
- Effectively and efficiently respond to incidents and requests.
- Appropriately escalate issues to more knowledgeable engineers and peers as required.
- Engage external contract services as required.
- Use testing equipment to diagnose physical layer issues with fiber and copper networks
- Participate in project activities as needed.
- Physical installation of networking and telecom equipment.
- Serve as on-site eyes & ears for remote engineers.
- Apply configuration, updates, and patches to equipment for on-going maintenance.
- Mentor/cross-train other members of the team where appropriate.
- Deploy, configure, maintain network device specific UPS equipment.
- Create and maintain documentation as required.
- High School Diploma, Associate's degree or higher preferred
- Experience with supporting and troubleshooting in a complex network environment and of physical network support (Racking, Cabling, etc.).
- Knowledge of diagnostic and monitoring tools (Wireshark, Logic Monitor, SolarWinds, Nagios, Fluke, Ekahau, OTDR, etc.)
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics into layman terms.
