Responsibilities:

• Assist our customers to have a superior networking experience.
• Triage/troubleshoot networking issues at layers 1 and 2 of the open systems interconnect model.
• Effectively and efficiently respond to incidents and requests.
• Appropriately escalate issues to more knowledgeable engineers and peers as required.
• Engage external contract services as required.
• Use testing equipment to diagnose physical layer issues with fiber and copper networks
• Participate in project activities as needed.
• Physical installation of networking and telecom equipment.
• Serve as on-site eyes & ears for remote engineers.
• Apply configuration, updates, and patches to equipment for on-going maintenance.
• Mentor/cross-train other members of the team where appropriate.
• Deploy, configure, maintain network device specific UPS equipment.
• Create and maintain documentation as required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, Associate's degree or higher preferred
• Experience with supporting and troubleshooting in a complex network environment and of physical network support (Racking, Cabling, etc.).
• Knowledge of diagnostic and monitoring tools (Wireshark, Logic Monitor, SolarWinds, Nagios, Fluke, Ekahau, OTDR, etc.)
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics into layman terms.
