    Role Description

    Reports To: Production Supervisor

    Location: Allerton, Iowa

    Start Date: ASAP

    Schedule: 12 hour night shift following a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule with differential pay.

    The Dryer Operator operates spray dryer and related equipment to dry product produced by the mix operator

    Role Responsibilities
    • Operate spray dryer to produce an in spec product
    • Check moisture, sediment, HP pump pressures, heat exchanger, temperatures and adjust if necessary using finished product specifications and work schedule as a guideline
    • Change carbon columns and recharge as required
    • Replace gaskets, pump seals and HP pump packing as required
    • Check gate valves, augers, conveying systems and related dryer equipment frequently
    • Pump mix from processors to hold tanks
    • Follow written Quality System operating procedures
    • Follow safety rules and use appropriate safety gear as necessary
    • Notify supervisor of problems that effect product quality or equipment malfunction
    • Responsible for running Clean-In-Place (CIP) operations
    • Follow aseptic procedures at all times
    • Correctly follow all production, cleaning procedures as described in the SOP
    • Maintains records including but not limited to computer, sanitation, pre-op and batch tickets
    Skills & Qualifications
    • Must be self-disciplined, a team player, and be able to handle emergency situations common to the operation.
    • Must follow all written and oral instructions and take direction from Production Supervisor/Manager.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Machine operating experience required, food manufacturing or infant formula manufacturing experience preferred
    Physical Requirements
    • Able to lift 50 lb./25 kg bags or drums during the batching and bagging process.
    • Need ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform adjustments to equipment, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor.
    Regulatory Requirements
    • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, follow CGMP's, and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
    • Will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local standards for the manufacture of infant formula and other non-infant nutritional foods.
