    WSLB is a non-profit organization that helps families overcome trauma caused by domestic abuse.

    Our supportive housing facility was one of the first in Southern California when it opened in 1977 Since then, we have helped thousands of victims and their children by providing safe housing and supportive services including an emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, social services support, legal and health advocacy, and much more.

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for WSLB and the execution of its mission and strategic plan.

    The Executive Director needs to demonstrate proficiency in program oversight, board relations, finance and fund development, staff supervision and internal and external communications.

    Leading WSLB in a manner that supports and guides the Organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will have a talent for engaging, inspiring, and motivating others.

    The Executive Director will be committed to transparency, integrity, and must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism.

    Establish and oversee implementation of agency policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
    Complete quarterly strategic analysis for all programming to determine recommendations or improvements that need to be made.
    Oversee maintenance of all agency-owned and operated facilities.
    Monitor industry best practices and consult experts and advisors to ensure WSLB operates legally, ethically, and efficiently.
    Serve as staff liaison to the Board and each Board Committee.
    Conduct fiscal forecasting, develop annual grants budgets and coordinate fiscal planning.
    Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board.
    Build and maintain positive relations between the Board and staff.

    Grow revenue generating and fundraising/friendraising activities to ensure a strong and diverse pipeline of both program revenue and unrestricted funding.

    Regularly report financial progress and communicate issues or risks.

    Ensure agency compliance with legal, accounting and funding requirements to ensure WSLB is a responsible steward of donors' trust and gifts and resources.

    Research and prepare/oversee grant applications for new and continued funding and ensure grant and contractual obligations are met.

    Create a list of contributors and sponsors, a robust planned giving program and engage the Board, community advisors and experts as support.

    Participate in all fundraising activities, including events, personal and direct mail appeals, speaking engagements and development of community support for donation of goods and services.

    Supervision (20%)
    Strive for equity, satisfaction, recognition, and retention for both the Board and staff.
    Directly supervise the senior leadership team and provide administrative supervision to support staff.
    Supervise the recruitment, hiring, and training of new employees and volunteers.
    Development of position descriptions, staff organization and development.
    Oversee grievance process for all staff, volunteers and agency clients.
    Build strong community relationships such as city leadership and use WSLB's presence and relationship to garner new opportunities.

    Develop and maintain positive working relations with the domestic violence community, children's services community, the Long Beach community and the community at large.

    Represent the agency and interpret the agency's goals, impact and services to the public, the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, contributors, other non-profit agencies, relevant governmental agencies, and the media.

    Minimum of 5 years' nonprofit executive level leadership experience required.
    Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required.
    Experience managing a multidisciplinary, multigenerational, diverse, and remote team.
    Knowledge of domestic violence residential and non-residential programs preferred.
    Knowledge of government grant compliance is preferred.

    A high degree of cultural sensitivity, knowledge of trauma-informed practices, and the ability to work well with a diverse community.

    Ability to remain organized and maintain excellent attention to detail while working on multiple projects.
    Proven successful supervision of a team.
    Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, Zoom, etc.
    Ability to speak English and Spanish is preferred.
