    The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Business & Finance or the Chief Business Officer (CBO) ensures organizational effectiveness by providing collaborative leadership and directing strategic fiscal management for operational and student aid resources totaling $160.8M for Student Academic Affairs (SAA) and the Graduate Division (GD) combined department, which provides services and resources to ~3,100 graduate and professional students and postdocs to help them reach their health professions degree and research objectives.

    In this capacity, the position manages the Business & Finance Office supervising 5 financial budget analysis FTEs that support operational budgets, PhD funding for fellowships and annual allocations for PhD degree programs, oversees Student Financial Services Office (SFS) comprised of 10 FTEs and 5 student work-study students that provide scholarships/grants, loans, work study, and financial short- and long-term debt counseling.

    Also, the AVC Business & Finance provides direction and financial expertise overseeing the operating budget with 115 FTEs in SAA and GD including:

    Vice Provost's Office, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, Student Life, Student Information Systems, Office of Institutional Research, Student Life, Student Mental Health and Wellness Center, Office of Career and Professional Development, International Students and Scholars, Educational Technology Services, and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

    Student Academic Affairs (SAA) and the Graduate Division are a combined department at UCSF comprised of 115 FTEs that provides support for 3,100 graduate and professional students, including the services, resources, programming, and financial support they need to succeed and enter their desired careers upon graduation.

    SAA has 13 functional units collaborating to provide academic, personal, and professional development resources and programming including:

    registration, student life services, financial aid, international student and scholars visa management, mental health counseling and wellness workshops, classroom learning resources, and career planning workshops.

    The UCSF Graduate Division is home to 1,600 students enrolled in 31-degree programs and 1,100 postdoctoral scholars working in labs and departments across campus, conducting basic, translational, clinical, social, and populational sciences research.

    MBA or Advanced business degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
    ~Extensive knowledge of financial policies, practices and systems; fund accounting; human resource planning; accounting and bookkeeping
    ~ Strong ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
    ~ Ability to evaluate processes to establish and maintain appropriate accountability structures and strong internal control elements

    Advanced working knowledge of UCSF financial and administrative systems including MyReports, UCSF Chart of Accounts, BearBuy, PeopleSoft, etc.
    Fluency in Fund Accounting, financial aid policies, management of financial aid resources: tuition, professional fees, grants, gifts, endowments, federal loans, university loans, & emergency loans
