    Groundworks Industries is home to a family of retail brands that seek to provide knowledgeable, and artful experiences set new standards for the purchase and experience of cannabis. We are looking for folks who are passionate about cannabis education and want to help us move the dial forward on building an inclusive and professional cannabis culture.

    **Summary**

    The *District Manager (DM*) presides over a group of Groundworks' retail locations (typically between 6-12), and directly supervises location-specific store managers therein.

    Informed by a 'Balanced Scorecard' approach equally emphasizing *People, Process/Technology, Customer* and *Finance* the *DM* continually develops and supports strong talent; builds, implements and improves retail operational processes; drivers an engaging customer experience; and seeks to increase top-line revenue and lower retail-related expenses. This is accomplished by way of a respectful, constructive and energetic style guided by Groundworks' core values and long-range objectives.

    **Essential Functions**

    **People**

    Work with store managers to determine their location-specific staffing needs, and partner with Human Resources to maintain active/passive talent acquisition pipelines.

    Develop, maintain and continually evolve an 'integration and initial training program' for new incoming retail employees that considers discrete pathways, one for staff and one for management.

    Continually develop, motivate and grow all employees within assigned region with emphasis on building/maintaining an exceptional, best-in-class Store Manager bench.

    Partner with the Director of Retail and Human Resources to figure out ways to gauge employee satisfaction, e.g. through surveys, focus groups, etc.; to leverage development opportunities, e.g. 'lunch and learns,' guest speakers, Q&As, etc.; and to break down inter-divisional barriers and foster overall cross-company unity.

    Operate as an 'HR Business Ambassador' within assigned region; understand and hold store managers accountable to Title VII and Wage and Hour Law, and best practices around progressive performance management, performance reviews and incident response.

    *Accountable for these key 'People' KPIs: employee tenure, employee attrition, employee satisfaction as measured by satisfaction surveys or other such instruments.*

    **Process/Technology**

    Partner with the Compliance team to understand, develop and maintain processes, security measures and controls that ensure '100% at all times' compliance with all state and local laws and regulations applicable to cannabis.

    Build and maintain relationships with critical internal and external stakeholders and partner with them to establish critical flows and processes, e.g. collaborate with Purchasing to establish processes for product quality assessment and feedback; work with Accounting and Operations to establish best practices for reconciliations and inventory integrity at the store level; etc.

    With input from the CCO, Director of Retail and Human Resources establish and maintain a docket of mandatory trainings and SOPs for store managers and retail staff; train accordingly and maintain a signoff log.

    Set annual and or quarterly SMART goals and cascade them through assigned region, holding store managers accountable to their set goals.

    Organize and run productive meetings that include agendas and the recording of minutes and action items.

    Work with IT and technology vendors to assess and continuously improve hardware and IS within assigned region.

    *Accountable for these 'Process/Technology' KPIs: trainings/SOPs completion percentages, SMART goals completion.*

    **Customer**

    Collaborate with store managers and the Director of Retail to define and continually evolve a best-in-class 'customer service ethos,' and accordingly train to and continually test with retail managers and staff.

    Work with store managers and Director of Retail to implement ongoing staff cannabis education training through written materials, vendor tours and presentations from experts; devise and monitor staff testing programs based on education materials for purposes of retention and promotion.

    Guided by vision and directives from Marketing and Brand Management work with store managers to ensure merchandising standards are maintained and signage and pricing menus are current and clear.

    Identify market trends and regularly provide analysis of the competitive landscape including opportunities across product, service and environment.

    *Accountable for these 'Customer' KPIs: Loyalty Program participation, customer satisfaction as measured by surveys and social media feedback.*

    **Finance**

    Drive top-line revenue within assigned region by ensuring product is on shelves and properly merchandised; pushing Loyalty Program participation; building Average Transaction Value (ATV) through product pairing and by having retail staff provide best-in-class customer service and in-store customer education.

    Proactively identify and propose sales and promotional opportunities.

    Help store managers set appropriate staffing levels, monitor staff budgets, and manage the reduction of unnecessary overtime.

    *Accountable for these 'Finance' KPIs: sales, ATV, staff budgets.*

    **Supervisory Responsibility**

    Responsible for the direct supervision of six to twelve exempt employees.

    **Required Qualifications**

    Demonstrated ability to oversee multi-department and or multi-location retail operations.

    Demonstrated ability to manage exempt managers within the retail space.

    Outgoing and encouraging demeanor with an ability to positively motivate staff and to network locally and regionally to build relationships.

    Very strong verbal and written communication proficiency; English literacy.

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions to inform recommendations and decisions.

    Ability to deliver effective and persuasive presentations that support business decisions and influence outcomes cross-functionally.

    Flexibility to 'fill in' and work in various capacities based on business needs, e.g. on a sales floor.

    Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

    Adaptability and tolerance to fast-paced business growth.

    Comfort with typical business computing and technology; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation for commuting among locations within assigned region.

    Hold a valid Marijuana's Handlers Permit.

    Must be and remain compliant with all legal and company regulations required for working in the cannabis space.

    Must be 21 years of age or older.

    Have interest in the cannabis industry and be culturally aligned with Groundworks' mission.

    **Physical Requirements**

    Ability to stand, walk, sit and kneel daily in retail and production environments that include concrete or other hard-surface floors, and in some instances staircases.

    Ability to push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.

    Ability to maintain focus and memory in environments with distractions such as heavy foot traffic, background noise due to public conversations and the gathering of people, etc.

    Absent conditions that would prevent the occasional use of PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, etc.

    Ability to sit at a desk and work at a computer for several contiguous hours.

    Ability to drive a motor vehicle for several hours contiguously.
