Future Link ) is looking for a passionate, positive, and motivated leader to join our team as a Student Engagement Associate. The right individual will understand the rewards of working directly with our first-generation, low income, high potential college students. The Student Engagement Associate serves as a key member of the Future Link team and an integral part of supporting, retaining, and engaging our students and volunteers. Future Link needs an organized, empathetic person who is a quick learner and ready to contribute to the overall growth of the organization and student success. This team member will thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and flexible environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Seminar Leader
· Provide leadership and logistics management for Future Link's 15-week Self-Advocacy and Career Development Seminar (fall and spring semesters) which teaches the behaviors and mindset needed to succeed in school and the workforce.
· Role includes: oversight of seminar facilitators, collaboration on curriculum development, attendance monitoring/follow-up, community building, and weekly activities related to seminar.
2. Student Cohort Liaison and Support for Program Components
· Student outreach and regular check-ins to ensure student progress.
· Understanding student cohort to guide them towards relevant programs and services: scholarships, internships, tutoring, career coaching, transfer information, financial aid guidance, etc.
· Planning and execution support for programs and events.
· Liaise with assigned mentors to support mentor-mentee pairs.
3. Other Duties as Assigned
Requirements:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must have the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and implement programming in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills required. Must possess a good sense of humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to prioritize work effectively. A willingness and ability to work well in a collaborative environment with all internal team members and external stakeholders is essential. Strong leadership and public speaking skills a must. Must live in Montgomery County, have a car and a valid driver's license.
The position reports to the Director, Education and Mentoring. Normal business hours are 9 am-5 pm Monday through Friday. In addition, Seminar attendance is required on Wednesdays from 4-7 pm (onsite in Rockville).
