    SUMMARY


    The Development Officer, Prospect Research and Portfolio Management at FINCA plays a crucial role in supporting the Major Gifts fundraising efforts by conducting data-driven prospect research.

    This involves analyzing various sources to provide insights, strategies, and recommendations for potential funding and partnership opportunities in line with FINCA's organizational goals.

    The primary responsibilities include identifying and cultivating relationships with individual donors, family foundations, and ultra-high net worth individuals to enhance and expand the Major Gifts program.

    Effective coordination of research projects involving multiple stakeholders is essential, along with a strong commitment to FINCA International's values and mission.

    Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Development Officer, Prospect Research and Portfolio Management utilizes creative research techniques to provide detailed analysis on potential donors, family foundations, and wealth advisors, drawing from biographical, organizational, anecdotal, and financial data sources.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Conducts in-depth prospect research for individual major gift prospects; analyzes, interprets, and evaluates biographical, business, personal, and financial information for current and prospective donors. Mine internal databases, listservs, external publications, and leadership networks to identify likely prospects.
    • Create and maintain a pipeline of potential major gift donors. Proactively reviews donor prospect assignments to ensure movement and solicitation strategy in relationship to capacity and affinity. Analyzes wealth screening data to identify new major gift donor prospects.
    • Prepares high quality profiles and strategic briefings on prospects and/or groups of prospects for Development staff and executive leadership, in advance of calls and events in order to obtain optimal outcomes.
    • Maintain fundraising records in database, including research briefs, proposal and report submissions, deadlines, deliverables, and interactions for effective moves management.
    • Develop and prepare monthly Prospect KPI and pipeline reports.
    • Undertake additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data from a wide variety of sources, and present the resulting information in a clear, concise summary. Proficiency in Internet research and data extraction, including fundraising databases, on-line services, and wealth screening analysis. Ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, yet thorough attention to detail and follow through.
    • Understanding of moves management and major gift fundraising fundamentals.
    • Flexible work attitude: ability to adjust to changing priorities; work in a fast paced environment; and willingness to meet deadlines regardless of time constraints. Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Three to five years prior experience in prospect research, new business development, or information related field.
    • Exceptional computer skills and demonstrated background in Internet based research.
    • Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospect researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner.
    • Understanding of local, regional and national philanthropic and business communities.
    Education
    Bachelor's Degree

    Language Skills
    Fluency in or working knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic a plus.

    Computer Skills
    Proficient with Raiser's Edge or another CRM system
    Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
    Availability to travel internationally and on weekends.
