- Conduct thorough inspections of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and related HVAC/R equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools and instruments to identify issues with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of components.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
- Replace faulty components, such as compressors, motors, valves, and sensors.
- Welding and brazing for repairing or replacing pipes and fittings.
- Conduct system performance tests to ensure optimal operation.
- Adjust and balance air and water flow within HVAC/R systems.
- Verify temperature and pressure levels meet design specifications.
- Handle refrigerants safely, including charging, recovering, and recycling in compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA regulations in the United States).
- Detect and repair refrigerant leaks.
- Work with building automation systems (BAS) and control panels to optimize HVAC/R equipment.
- Troubleshoot and program control systems for proper operation.
- Respond to emergency service calls to address critical equipment failures.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment conditions.
- Provide service reports and recommendations to clients or supervisors.
- Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Communicate with clients or facility managers to explain service findings and recommend repairs or upgrades.
- Provide cost estimates for repairs and obtain approval when necessary.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, regulations, and new technologies through training and certifications.
- Maintain required licenses and certifications, such as EPA 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Coordinate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors as needed, especially in larger projects or installations.
