    Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Electrical Engineer IV to join our Corpus Christi Design Center. This is a great opportunity under direction and guidance from department manager to get involved and assist in the planning, design, development and leading of Electrical Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries.

    Responsibilities
    • Independently performs assignments with instructions as to the overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
    • Maintains liaisons with individuals and units within or outside organization, with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to related field.
    • Plans, organizes, and supervises the work of a staff of engineers, other professionals, and technicians.
    • As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work.
    • May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.
    • Performs studies, preparation of specifications, evaluation of proposals, and development of estimates.
    • Provides recommendations for purchase of electrical system components.
    • Examines electrical drawings for completeness, detail, and accuracy as peer reviewer.
    • Checks manufactures' deliverables and coordinates between these and Zachry Engineering drawings.
    • Competent with standard server software applications such as e-mail, spreadsheet, word processing, database, etc. Familiar with CADD applications.
    • Mentors' junior engineers and designers to aid in their development both technically and professionally.
    • Assure the company quality assurance procedures are followed in completion of assigned tasks.
    Position Experience
    • Experience with the following systems and/or design processes are preferred:
    • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, PIP, etc.).
    • Electrical calculations & studies including, but not limited to: feeder sizing, electrical equipment sizing, voltage drop, short circuit analysis, load flow, protective device (breakers / relays) coordination studies, arc flash analysis and grounding.
    • One-line diagrams including metering & relaying for low, medium and high-voltage electrical systems.
    • Schematic diagrams for low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment / systems
    • Electrical raceway design including underground ductbanks, cable tray and conduit systems.
    • Lighting design including interior, exterior and roadway lighting, and lighting panel schedules.
    • Electrical lists & schedules including load list, electrical equipment list, and cable schedules.
    • Electrical general arrangements/equipment layouts
    • Backup and emergency power systems
    • Understanding of electrical construction methods and materials
    • Grounding design and grounding studies
    • Hazardous area classification
    • Equipment procurement including equipment specifications, bid evaluation, vendor drawing review.
    • Cost estimating and material takeoffs.
    • Proposal process including development of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
    • Field engineering/construction support
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering discipline from and accredited engineering program.
    • 4-10 years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer for Refining, Petrochemical and industrial projects.
    • Experience using SKM and/or ETAP is highly preferable.
    • Texas Licensed Professional Engineer by exam is highly preferable.
    Physical Demands

    Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, video conferencing, email, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely.

    Work Environment

    Employee will work primarily in an office however may work in other environments including warehouse and, in a trailer, or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
