    Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Cardiology Office – Chesapeake

    Full-time

    The Cardiac Registered Nurse provides collaborative care to provide safe, comprehensive clinical care in the outpatient cardiology office setting.

    Hours/Shift:

    Full-time – Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week, No nights or weekends

    Responsibilities:

    • Position includes both direct patient care and clinical calls (incoming/outgoing) calls with patients to complete triage/phone assessments, review of cardiac testing/labs results and medical treatment plans as prescribed by the provider
    • Direct patient care includes nurse visits for:
      • Blood pressure follow-up
      • Medication Review
      • EKG performance and review
      • Walk-in, symptomatic patients
    • Cross-training opportunities include:
      • Cardiac Stress Testing performance
      • Heart Monitor application
      • Coumadin Clinic
      • Assisting Ultrasound Technicians administer bubble studies and enhanced echo imaging agents
    • Enters data in the EMR
    • Provides patient education
    • Other activities and responsibilities as directed

    Job Requirements:

    • RN-Diploma (non-degree), RN-Associate's Degree or RN-Bachelor's Level Degree
    • Active, unrestricted nursing license and able to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
    • Computer literate; prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
    • Cardiac experience strongly recommended
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Must have the ability to work as a team with coworkers and providers
    • Strong interpersonal and patient care skills

    The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
