    Metallurgist Process Engineering Manager

    Our client is looking for a Process Engineering Manager for their heavy industry operation in the greater Ogden, UT area, with metal experience.


    Experience Requirements:
    BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (Metallurgical, Material Science & Nuclear may be acceptable)
    10+ years of experience in Industrial Metal Manufacturing.
    Metallurgy experience and management of a technical team of engineers is a plus.
    Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, techniques, processes and procedures.
    Experience in project estimating and project management.
    Experience in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and other Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis tools would be a plus.

    Ability to guide Process Engineers in applying broad knowledge of engineering skills, principles, practices, and procedures to complete difficult and complex assignments.

    Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated experience.
    Solid computer skills including MiniTab, and the ability to quickly learn software such as Leading to Lean, etc.


    Major Responsibilities:


    Determine and review all Fabrication manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness, feasibility, and customer compliance before and after engineering releases to manufacturing.

    Determine priorities with the Plant/Department Managers and implement cost-reduction projects; maintain detailed documentation as required.
    Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells and lines. Help guide designs for DFM (Design for Manufacturing)

    Direct department activities for design of new products to meet customer specifications, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test and verification procedures for manufacturing operations.

    Understand welding systems and operations.

    Assign departmental personnel to specific manufacturing areas/phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing, verification and qualification.

    Coach employees in career planning activities.
    Plan and formulate engineering program and organize department staff according to project and/or manufacturing requirements. Work closely with Design Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
    Maintain integration of the Process Engineers into the EP&T Organization.

    Provide engineering leadership that aligns with EP&T engineering in terms of project execution, change control, engineering discipline, and integration with appropriate disciplines for project or change execution.

    Review and monitor all design, engineering, and proposed technological development/enhancement as related to product lines. Manages projects chosen for manufacturing.
    Ensure reliable product delivery meeting objectives for quality, cost and production according to schedule.

    Develop and maintains department standard operating procedures, training, manuals, drawing standards, including the development and maintenance of Process Design Basis, Control Requirement Documentation in ENOVIA and Equipment specifications maintained in Leading to Lean database.

    Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
    Evaluate/approve design changes, calculations, specifications & drawing releases.
    Communicate key metrics for safety, quality, and production to employees to properly align actions and behaviors for improvement.
    Maintain Process Safety Information on all Safety Significant Process and ensure PHA'a are current.
    Participate and appoint Process Engineers to regularly participate in Process Hazard Analysis as required.
