- Assists the Pharmacist in providing service to all areas of the UW Health System.
- Performs technical duties necessary to maintain the medication distribution system and possess the capability of learning multiple software systems.
- Exemplary customer service skills including collaborative working relationships with colleagues, multi disciplinary teams, and the public.
- Current licensure from the State of Illinois.
- Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred or must be obtained within 2 years of original licensure.
- Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills required.
- Proficiency and ability to use a computer and a variety of common office equipment.
- Ability to effectively communicate and develop collaborative working relationships with colleagues, medical staff and the public.
- Must be able to pass a pharmacy technician evaluation test with at least a 70% score.
- The evaluation test is administered by the HR Department.
- Competency in the following skill set is required:
- Mentor staff and new employees during orientation.
- Prepares all sterile compounded products including hazardous medications using aseptic technique, following USP <797> and <800> guidelines. After completing 720 hours of experience following 12 weeks training, and passing all exams and PATT tests.
- Proper documentation of all cleaning activities, including but not limited to daily floor cleaning, daily cleaning of laminar airflow systems, monthly cleaning of walls, ceiling and light fixtures, as well as filter changes.
- Documentation of monitoring activities including air changes per hour, relative humidity, and airborne and surface contaminants.
- Annual review of training records, visual observations, and competency assessments.
- QA from an air surface sample to be reviewed and identification of potential risks of contamination, with corrective action if needed.
- Any additional cleaning, sampling and other duties as instructed.

We are seeking a Pharmacy (Level III) Technician to:
Provides age and culturally appropriate assessment/screening, interpretation of clinical and laboratory data and develops and implements age appropriate interventions and plans of care including education within the parameters of his/her position responsibilities.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Hospital experience in unit dose distribution, compounding non-sterile medications including USP<795>, IV admixture including USP<797> and <800>, and automated dispensing machine technology.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
2. Completion and passing with negative culture results for 3 Personal Aseptic Technique Tests.
3. Successful completion of 720 hours of active compounding of sterile products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for the constant observation of the EKG monitors. Complete reports, notifies staff, and documents any changes in heart rhythms of patients. Systematically organizes and documents ongoing rhythms as per policy. Updates RN timely with information regarding status of patient in compliance with policy and other regulatory agency requirements. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Must provide copy of diploma/degree for highest level of education obtained.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Certification as a Nursing Assistant or completion of fundamentals of nursing course and be registered on the Illinois Department of Health Registry or a nurse who has completed RN or LPN Training in another country. Must complete Monitor Technician training (Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation) course or pass the competency test before independent practice. Additional training for monitor technicians may be required to ensure competency.
Bi-Annual CPR designation by recommended renewal date.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age/job specific competencies, and skill verification tools required. Good interpersonal, organizational and critical decision-making skills required. Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Computer experience helpful. Basic arithmetic skills required. Exceptional customer service skills with all customers. Ability to focus for long periods of time and adapt to situations quickly. Use resources effectivity and work within a team.
