    The

    Senior Accountant


    role supports the daily functions of the accounting department and collaborates with the team to ensure timely completion of month end.

    The position reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger as well as providing high-level support to the Accounting Manager.

    The Senior Accountant will assist with preparation of month-end financial statements as well as support Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable.

    Responsibilities

    Prepare monthly government grant invoicing

    Develop budgets and narratives for government grants

    Assist Staff Accountant II in bi-weekly payroll process including employee updates, timecard policy adherence, and timecard approvals; serves as primary backup for payroll processing

    Provides guidance to Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist

    Review for accuracy accounts payable invoices for proper coding and approvals

    Assist Staff Accountant I with corporate credit card program

    Assist team with processing donations received via mail as needed

    Ensure proper controls are maintained for revenue

    Assist in month and year end closings including preparing and posting journal entries with corresponding support

    Reconcile and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure transactions are recorded accurately

    Review and analyze monthly financial statements and reports


    Manage and serve as primary contact for annual financial and single audits, as well as various program audits throughout the year.

    Frequently review company policies and internal controls and recommend improvements

    Execute special projects as assigned and be prepared to assist other team members as needed

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or combination of education and experience

    3-5 years of accounting experience

    Thorough knowledge of accrual based accounting as well as understanding of financial statements

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Navision Accounting software is preferred

    Experience processing payroll in Paylocity is preferred

    Effective communication skills, both written and oral.

    Detail oriented and able to balance multiple projects

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions

    Intermediate Excel skills

    Thorough understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles and practices

    Must maintain the highest standard of accuracy and confidentiality
