- Provide leadership and act as a consultant to assigned school personnel in developing and maintaining a student assistance program.
- Maintain monthly documentation on each student and provide notes on supports provided.
- Gather, organize, and interpret assessment data.
- Utilize best practice instructional strategies and research-based intervention curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of students.
- Model the use of intervention strategies, through their use in the classroom, to general and special education teachers.
- Analyze existing student achievement data and administer student assessment and progress monitoring instruments as needed to aid in progress monitoring of students.
- Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and administration.
- Assist with in-service training for school staff and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Alabama teaching certification in Elementary Education, Reading, Literacy or a related area and a minimum of 3 years elementary teaching experience.
- Master's degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Reading
- A minimum of 1-3 years teaching experience as a reading interventionist
- Leadership experience (e.g., conducting workshops, presenting to large/small groups, participating in special projects, and developing new materials)
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills, outstanding organizational and planning abilities, strong ability to work effectively with individuals and groups, knowledgeable in the area of best/evidence-based instructional methods and strategies.
