    Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for implementing, operating, and maintaining networking solutions to ensure the availability and security of Hilltops information systems and networks. The Network Engineer demonstrates ownership of technical problems and engages in collaborative troubleshooting through issue resolution.

    Responsibilities:

    • Areas of experience should include:

    Firewall, DNS, WAF configuration and troubleshooting

    Route/Switch L3/L2 configuration and deployment

    LAN/WAN Connectivity and circuits

    Network monitoring

    Troubleshooting and issue resolution

    Project Execution

    Wireless experience preferred

    Data Center, SD-WAN, or VOIP experience are a plus

    • Collaborates with other Engineers to deploy and test technical solutions.
    • Maintains accurate documentation and clear work notes for projects, deployments, and troubleshooting.
    • Collaborates across lines of business with key business stakeholders to ensure successful solution delivery.
    • Executes technical delivery and solution configuration.
    • Ensures technical delivery and configurations conform to company standards and specifications.
    • Executes and updates run books and other system documentation as necessary.
    • Demonstrates technical problem ownership through final resolution, including collaborative troubleshooting, vendor engagement, inter-team collaboration, and root cause analysis and documentation.
    • Recognizes and communicates network misconfiguration that could adversely impact security or availability of company networks.
    • Interacts with Telecom Carriers on circuit-related tasks such as orders, upgrades, and outage management.
    • Leads / supports after-hours change management / maintenance windows as required.
    • Performs upgrades as needed.
    • Provides team support as needed.
    • Continually expands skillset across the networking technology stack.
    • Supports after-hours on-call rotation.
    • Other functions as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • B.S./B.A. or M.B.A./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, and/or equivalent formal training or work experience
    • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, high level of accountability, and attention to detail.
    • Strong orientation toward problem solving and sound judgment in an open and collaborative environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
    • Demonstrated ability to think critically in novel situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to deploy technical solutions in an uptime-sensitive business environment.
    • Knowledge in network subject matter such as: Cisco IOS and Cisco hardware; BGP, OSPF, EIGRP; visibility tools such as protocol analyzers.
    • Knowledge in network subject matter such as 802.1x, wireless, VPN, tacacs, radius, DNS, netflow, and log analysis a strong plus.
    • Knowledge in network security subject matter: NGFW, IPS, URL filtering, and WAF. Other topics a strong plus: malware sandboxing, SSL-decryption, endpoint authentication and authorization
    • SD-WAN, Azure networking and connectivity, or VOIP experience a strong plus
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact with various levels within the organization.
    • Ability to develop clear Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for execution within Change Requests (CRs)
    • Must be able to drive project deliverables.
    • Must work well individually and in a team context.
    • Must be self-motivated with strong initiative, high level of accountability, and attention to detail.
    • Minimum of 3 years related network experience, including administration of LAN/WAN architecture within a client/server environment.
    • CCNA certification or equivalent experience
