Description
Responsibilities:
- Displays respect to all patients and coworkers in order to promote an efficient and
effective healthcare team. - Escort patient to exam room and prepares patient on examining table; positions patient on exam table for various ultrasound exams.
- Verifies patient name, date of birth, explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Scans patient (as per exam requested), obtains all necessary images and measurements.
- Reviews ultrasound images and notes case relevant images.
- Writes report; includes findings, measurements and relevant patient history. Charges
patient accordingly. - Images are sent via PACS, electronic worksheets are sent to Radiologists via RIS/PACS.
- Confers with radiologist, as necessary.
- Obtains any ultrasound images or reports needed for correlation.
- Assists with scheduling, as needed. Obtains all comparative studies for scheduled
appointments and any add-on patients. - Orders supplies.
- Keeps equipment in good working order; calls for service when necessary.
- Other duties may be assigned.
3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications
- Graduate of two-year RT (radiologic technology) or other allied health field
- Training and clinical experience in the following areas of Ultrasound: abdominal,
OB-GYN and vascular - Eligible for registry with the ARDMS (American Registry
of Diagnostic Medical Sonography). - Certified by passing registry in RDMS and RVT within two years of hire
- CPR certification.
