- Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
- Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter, and operating and maintaining decontamination equipment.
- Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization.

Job Summary Responsible for the preparation, care, sterilization and transportation of medical and surgical instruments, packs, supplies and equipment.
Job Duties
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details$3,000 sign-on bonus for 2nd /3rd shift and $1,500 for 1st shift for qualified applicants.
At Geisinger, we have created a career pathway for our sterile processing department. Geisinger employs all levels for our hospitals (GCMC, GMC, GWV and GSWB).
All levels will be considered at appropriate compensation. Salary commensurate with experience.
Sterile Processing Associate- Requires a high school diploma/GED. No experience is required
Sterile Processing Technician- Requires 2 years of experience. Certified through HSPA (CRCST).
Sterile Processing Lead- Requires 3 years of experience. Must be certified through HSPA (CRCST)
Sterile Processing Technician CEP- Requires 2 years of experience. Must be certified through HSPA (CRCST) and (CHL) Certified Healthcare Leader.
Sterile Processing Educator- Requires 3 years of experience. Must be certified through HSPA (CRCST). Develops and provides unit based educational program
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)Certification(s) and License(s) Certified Sterile Processing Technician within 18 months - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
