Description
SUMMARY
As a member of the Data Integrity team within the IT department at Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC), the Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines for transactional system integration and reporting and analytics functions in support of data infrastructure and data governance initiatives at PCHC.
The Data engineer will contribute through the entire lifecycle of data management, from data modeling and technical design, through development and testing, to data consumption.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and data tools such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
Design, build, and deploy data pipelines to support transactional system integrations.
Design, build, and deploy ETL processes to support the enterprise data warehouse.
Design, build, and deploy data solutions to monitor data infrastructure and data quality.
Analyze test and monitoring results for purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Participate in design and code reviews and manage component lifecycle, including version control and technical documentation, for all data solutions.
Maintain an understanding of data component dependencies to assist in data infrastructure change management and recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
Promote data availability, usability, integrity, and security to further data governance.Support the analytics team when needed for report development, data analysis, and data quality questions.
Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and design patterns to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Maintain ownership of projects and tasks assigned, consistently meeting deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience is required.
Relational database experience in SQL Server, both cloud and on-prem, is required.
Proficiency in using ETL tools such as T-SQL, SSIS, C# .NET, and PowerShell.
Experience with data warehousing, dimensional data modeling, and business intelligence concepts to include the ability to design data structures and write advanced SQL queries.
Knowledgeable about data governance and data quality concepts and techniques.Experience using Azure Data Factory to create data pipelines is desirable.
Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as Reporting Services and Power BI is helpful.
Experience in and understanding of the healthcare domain including standards such as HL7, SNOMED, and ICD is helpful.
Knowledge of database administration.
Time management skills necessary to keep on-task with multiple project assignments.
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical directives and the ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and general public is essential.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form and the ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
