    The Education Department of Iona University is seeking an individual at the rank of Clinical Lecturer to serve as the department's Advocate in Residence beginning in the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to social justice, as well as extensive expertise in school-based and district initiatives. They will be well-positioned to assist the department in creating partnerships for grant-writing and teacher pipeline initiatives with a focus on diversifying the teaching profession.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach up to 24 credits, or four courses per semester, during the academic year.
  • Teach daytime, in-person, courses at the undergraduate level and teach evening graduate courses, where appropriate, in variety of formats (e.g., in-person, hybrid, online).
  • Direct or assist in the direction of Iona's tutoring program.
  • Engage in departmental service and/or service to the university as required.
  • Assist in data collection and reporting on behalf of the department as needed.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Master's degree in education, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or a related field, or equivalent training.
  • Experience facilitating school-based and district initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice in education.
  • Familiarity with New York state legislation and requirements and teacher preparation programs.
  • Experience planning and implementing teacher professional development.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Doctoral degree in education, curriculum and instruction, teacher education, or a related field, or equivalent training.
  • Experience planning and implementing academic tutoring programs.
  • Expertise in dyslexia and reading instruction.
  • Experience teaching at the university level.
  • Experience with educational technology.
  • Experience with online learning environments.
