    Description
    Elementary School Teaching Position

    Location: Central Elementary

    Immediate Supervisor: Principal

    FLSA STATUS: Exempt

    EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually; extended employment terms may be established

    SALARY: In accordance with Kanawha County Teacher Salary Schedule, based on experience and education level

    JOB SUMMARY: Providing instruction to elementary students to ensure they meet learning objectives and standards for the appropriate grade level

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Implementing Kanawha County Schools' curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives
    • Implementing academic programs
    • Incorporating 21st Century technology skills
    • Collaborating with special education students and teachers
    • Leading co-curricular activities such as fairs, award programs, and field trips
    • Ensuring student achievement
    • Personalizing learning for students
    • Communicating effectively with students, parents, and peers
    • Executing additional programs for school improvement
    • Maintaining classroom control
    • Completing assigned duties by Principal

    QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching certificate, clear criminal background check, and meeting qualifications specified in WV Code

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Reaching, lifting, writing, speaking, using technology, and interacting with multiple people

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities; varying noise levels
