Job DescriptionAbout the Role The Senior Custodian

• Flooring position is responsible for performing typical custodial duties (cleaning restrooms, dusting furniture and fixtures, spot cleaning walls: and furniture, emptying and cleaning trash cans, cleaning drinking fountains, interior and exterior windows, window sills, doors, kitchens, and picking up debris), with a specific emphasis on flooring work which includes vacuuming and shampooing carpets, safely and efficiently operating pressure washers, stripping, waxing, scrubbing and recoating floors, dust mopping floors for any loose debris and removing any gum residue.

Must be able to operate flooring machines (scrubbers, strippers, buffers, etc.)

Essential Duties Performs both routine and special cleaning work in all areas of the Huntington including but not limited to the following:

cleans restrooms, vacuums carpets, mops hard surface floors, dusts furniture and fixtures, spot cleans walls: carpets, floors, and furniture, empties and cleans trash cans, cleans drinking fountains, washes interior and exterior windows, cleans window sills, cleans doors, cleans kitchens, picks up debris and washes down exterior areas, cleans all other areas as directed.

Vacuum and shampoo carpetsSafely and efficiently operate pressure washers to clean various outdoor flooring surfaces including concrete, tile, marble, slate, brick and other surfaces.

Strip and wax, scrub and recoat floors of varying finishes as needed (tile, linoleum, VCT, Marble, polished concrete, etc.)Safely and effectively operate floor machines including scrubbers, strippers, buffers, etc.

May assist with special event setups, indoors and outdoors, of tables, chairs, extension cords and other equipment as needed.7. May assist in moving boxes, furniture, or other items.8. May drive golf cart to drive between assigned areas.

May perform other related duties as assignedCandidate Requirements and Experience Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
High school diploma required.

Flooring maintenance experience preferredWorking Conditions Must be able to Lift up to 50 pounds at a timeRequired to operate floor cleaning equipment while standing/walking for prolonged periods of time.

Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects; walk and stand for long periods of time; climb ladders and stairs; bend and reach, stoop.

Must be able to see close detail work clearly to ensure thorough cleaning.
Must be able to work extremely carefully around valuable collection items.
Must be able to work cooperatively with others and function as part of the custodial team. Must be flexible in assuming work assignments and knowledgeable about each cleaning procedure. Must be polite and diplomatic in dealing with other staff members and the public.
Must be able to work flexible hours and days of the week including weekends.
Working Environment Works in all physical plant, gallery, food service and office areas. Works with tools, electrical and mechanical equipment which requires the exercise of good judgment and caution.
Works either alone or in groups to complete work as assigned by Supervisor.
