    Description

    This position plays a crucial role in executing comprehensive needs and solutions assessments to address various Transmission & Substation (T&S) reliability and infrastructure needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing internal staff, collaborating across organizations, and leading external resources to pursue project development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop the majority of new T&S capital projects to a Conceptual design level (IP2), ready for financial approval and eventual handoff for project execution.
    • Evaluate proposed T&S projects to ensure they meet stakeholder and internal Investment Plan requirements by providing proper justification and supporting documentation.
    • Lead the Transmission System Review Group (TSRG) and contribute to the vetting and approval of new projects prior to execution, including thorough review and feedback of submitted materials.

    The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in T&S Power Systems, including planning, design, operations, and maintenance, as well as knowledge of applicable design codes and criteria. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential for effectively articulating ideas and conveying complex concepts to both internal and external stakeholders.

    A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering is required, along with five years of practical experience in T&D Power Systems. An advanced education, such as an MBA, and/or a Professional Engineering License are considered a plus.

    Technical Skills and Competencies

    • T&S Power Systems - Practical Knowledge: Planning, Design, Operations, & Maintenance.
    • Applicable Design Codes and Criteria: In-depth understanding of internal/external codes & criteria and their application to existing facilities.
    • Regional & Regulatory Requirements & Constraints: Knowledge of project cost recovery mechanisms, documentation requirements, Non-Wires Alternatives laws/regulations, and AVANGRID's IP Process.
    • Communicating/Influencing & Engineering Documentation: Understanding and conveying ideas clearly and convincingly.
