    FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:

    The person in this role will be responsible for supporting the Executive Director of Student Support Services and School Counselors across the Rochester City School District.

    The primary functions will include providing assistance and support with developing and implementing the RCSD School Counseling Comprehensive Plan.

    The TOA will assist the Executive Director of Student Support Services with facilitating educational training, coaching/mentoring, and leadership development for school counselors, as well as applying research-based support systems/tools and reflective planning with schools to ensure ASCA and NYSSCA alignment.

    The TOA will collaborate with students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and all school community members to ensure scholars are prepared for graduation and post-secondary options.

    The TOA will demonstrate a collaborative work ethic, supportive commitment to high-performance levels for students and adults, flexibility in daily routines, and full participation in culture change.


    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Assist with developing and implementing the School Counseling Comprehensive Plan across the RCSD.

    Develop, participate in, and facilitate ongoing training, mentorship, and support around academic, social-emotional, and college/career counseling topics.

    Support the transition of school counselors across Rochester City School District due to reconfiguration of schools.

    Implement and create events to increase student and parent engagement related to the counseling domains.

    Act as a co-lead of the School Counseling Advisory Board/ Team.

    Participate on district level teams related to School Counseling.

    Complete school visits and audits and meet regularly with school-level counseling teams.

    Ensure cohort tracking is consistent throughout the district.

    Routinely analyze data to assist in utilizing effective strategies and methodologies related to School Counseling.

    Assist with meeting NCAA requirements across the district.


    Support implementing Student Support Services initiatives and goals, i.e., Second Step, Erin's Law, college and career platform, MTSS, Community Partnerships' programming, TIG, Mental Health Assessments, and the Intern to Employment pipeline.

    Co-lead professional learning for school counselors and other pertinent stakeholders.

    Assist with PowerSchool scheduling and reports.


    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:
    Mastery-level knowledge of utilizing data for instructional decisions, including data analysis, differentiated supports, and fostering student engagement.


    Minimum of five years' experience in school counseling, with a record of successfully improving.student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.


    Must possess strong knowledge and experience with Trauma, Illness, and Grief counseling, restorative practices, college and career readiness techniques, mentoring adults, and culturally relevant inclusive practices.

    Act as supplemental support at schools when additional counselor assistance is required.

    Other responsibilities may arise as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.

    Working knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs, sheets, and slides.

    Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues.

    Demonstrated willingness to participate in professional learning for oneself.

    Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
