    A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $7,500 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION, PAID IN TWO INSTALLMENTS WITHIN TWELVE MONTHS OF HIRE

    This position serves as a Project Manager to provide project management services to campus partners, ensuring that design and construction projects are on schedule, within budget, responsive to program needs and comply with or exceed UNC and State Construction Office standards and expectations.

    The Facilities Planning & Design department is comprised of design professionals who are responsible for the planning, design and management of all capital improvement projects across the Chapel Hill campus, and master planning and the collection and organization of space data and mapping for the greater University.

    The Capital Project Management team is specifically responsible for the planning and evaluation of space needs for campus partners and auxiliary groups, providing design project management services for the University's Capital Improvement Projects, and land use planning to create a campus environment that supports the University's mission through master planning, development plans and agreements.

    The department also facilitates Community Coordination where community concerns are addressed through adherence to all zoning regulations, permit requirements and development agreements.

    Responsible for the planning and management of formal capital projects, which may range from $500,000 to in excess of $100,000,000 and may include the planning and design of new buildings, repairs and renovations of existing buildings, additions, major infrastructure and open space improvements.

    This involves, but is not limited to, budget and schedule preparation, designer selection, contract negotiation, document review, monitoring of project progress and resolving situations that arise during design and construction.

    Works with contracted designers, campus partners, committees, authorities, contractors, and others to assure that projects are accomplished in accordance with established guidelines, master plans, policies, and procedures.

    Work may also involve interpreting and assisting in the development of methods and policy relating to planning and design activities, ensuring that project modifications are carried out in a timely manner, and other related duties as required.

    Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Licensed to practice architecture or landscape architecture by the North Carolina Board of Architecture or the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects.

    All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills. Extensive knowledge of design and construction industry.
