    The Display Module Integration Manufacturing Engineer will be working closely with design, engineering, product, supply chain, program management, and external manufacturing partners to understand, develop and implement high-yielding, stable processes to enable the high-volume manufacturing of optics and display modules for AR.

    The ideal candidate will have a technical background in optics, physics, manufacturing or equivalent experience in the field with shipping optical components and modules in mass production for consumer devices.

    Display Module Integration Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities

    Operations lead in technical team responsible for cross-functional engagement with internal and external partners to support ramp readiness and execute processing and delivery of modules
    Understand and influence end-to-end process flow, tool requirements, and interplay between design/process by engaging with internal designers, analyzing datasets, and forging relationships with our external manufacturing partners
    Drive cost and cycle time reduction through line balancing, process optimization, and applying lean principles
    Drive development and execution of plans for transfer of New Technology Introduction (NTI) to high volume manufacturing for our display module sub-assemblies
    Communicate and drive accountability for specifications, manufacturing metrics, and line qualification requirements to external vendors
    Work with internal partners to identify vendors and support vendor roadmap development for high volume production processes and equipment
    Collaboratively own tool and process specifications with cross-functional team leaders
    Support data validation for design and process robustness by evaluating limits of design/process windows
    Partner with external vendor in troubleshooting, yield improvement, FA/CA and mitigating any technical issues
    Influence process/equipment/site convergence as it relates to meeting design requirements and manufacturability targets
    Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites as and when required

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, Material Science OR equivalent experience
    5+ years of vendor management experience with demonstrated knowledge to navigate communication channels between internal and external partners
    3+ years of first-hand experience with end-to-end optical component and/or module processing, front-end and back-end processes
    3+ years of hands-on experience in statistical process control and data analysis, using tools such as JMP, Tableau, Matlab, or equivalent
    Expertise in and understanding of manufacturing and operational fundamentals, such as Quality Control Plans (QCP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Change Control Board (CCB), Material Review Board (MRB), Machine and Process Buy-off (MBO/PBO), pFMEA, overall equipment efficiency (OEE), units per hour (UPH), etc
    Knowledge and demonstrated hands-on implementation of Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) concepts to optimize yield, throughput, efficiency, Cpk
    Knowledge in KPIs of optical devices, such as brightness, contrast, uniformity, MTF
    Knowledge of assembly equipment, processes, and materials
    Effective communication skills with cross functional partners and management

    Preferred Qualifications

    Masters or P.h.
    D in Physics, Applied Physics, Optics or Material Science
    3+ years of technical management/leadership experience
    Demonstrated experience to affect strategy on the display module or system level
    Demonstrated knowledge to communicate at all levels of an organization, from the technical team to senior leadership
    Experience with display component or module assembly processes, such as SMT, lamination, screen-printing, laser cutting, edging, molding, 3D printing
    Experience with materials, such as adhesives (e.g. PSA, OCA, LOCA, glue), optical coatings, ophthalmic lenses, electrochemical cells
    Experience working with an external vendor as a contract manufacturing partner
    Proficiency in structured technical problem solving techniques and methodology
    Six Sigma certification and/or training (DMAIC or DFSS)
