    We are seeking a Materials Manager for our North Baltimore, Ohio Plant.

    Position Summary:
    Primarily responsibility will be the ongoing management of material planning, material control, scheduling, and purchasing functions including customer service, production planning, procurement, storage and distribution of material and product to meet customer expectations and to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained. This requires the ability to proactively identify issues and implement process improvements in material planning.

    The individual in this role, will drive activities critical to plant performance by managing various projects to instill excellence and best practices. The materials manager is also responsible to control department expenses, increase productivity, elevate service to our customers, and further our competitive advantage in the industry.

    The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive knowledge of manufacturing operations and cost structures.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Oversees and ensures proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements. Makes certain that deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly followed up.
    • Ensuring timely and accurate response to customer's orders by providing the required information, schedules, materials and accurate systems to the manufacturing unit.
    • Work closely with operations manager to develop production plan and forecasts
    • Develop sales forecasts and adjusts when release information indicates changes
    • Establish and maintain purchasing practices and policies aligned with CSP guidelines to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with vendors. Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
    • Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery.
    • Developing the strategy for efficient and effectively manufacturing and on-time delivery of products that consistently meet customer requirements.
    • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
    • Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the company, in addition to all inventory items. Confers with requesting parties when specific sources are requested. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
    • Sets guidelines and follows up with suppliers to provide cost savings while maintaining the even flow of raw materials necessary to produce the finished product for our customer.
    • Oversee changes in BOM, in conjunction with Engineering.
    • Develops and implements visual inventory management systems on the production floor.
    • Establish procedures and manage the annual physical inventory. This includes the taking and valuing of the year-end physical inventory.
    • Monitor inventory adjustments and conducts cycle counting.
    • Integration of sales forecasts, budgets raw, in process, and finished goods inventory.
    • Monitor obsolete products and assist sales to remove from North Baltimore inventory.

    Functional Leadership Responsibilities:

    • Manage departmental expenses and appropriation requests within budget while focusing on continuous improvement opportunities
    • Build strong strategic relationships with all levels of management.
    • Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth.
    • Developing internal talent, coach and mentor staff.

    • Maintain departmental "KOP's".
    • Supports plant safety rules, UAW contract and CSP procedures.
    • Meet departmental budgets and continuous improvement.
    • Directs plant purchasing functions at productive and non-productive levels.
    • Manage safety as an equal to other key functions.
    • Monitor departmental action items to ensure timely and effective correction of issues.
    • Hold staff accountable for meeting targets and goals driving KPI's and Plant Metric Targets.

    Qualifications:
    • At least 10 years of experience with 5+ years with inventory management, planning, scheduling, and distribution in a manufacturing environment. Automotive supplier experience is strongly desired.
    • Bachelor's degree Supply Chain Management (preferred) or Operations,
    • Logistics, or Engineering.
    • MBA or Supply Chain Management Master's Degree preferred.
    • APICS certification is highly preferred with CPIM recommended.
    • Demonstrated success in managing a team and driving improved performance.
    • Proven understanding of complex reporting tools.
    • Advanced MS Office including Excel. Oracle/SAP proficiency a plus.
