    Job Title: Technical Coordinator - Dam Safety

    Job Summary:
    This position assists the Branch Chief in the day-to-day operations of the Safety of Dams (SOD) Branch. Individual will have three years' minimum experience leading projects. Individual will have demonstrated experience with Federal Dam Safety policies and procedures and/or demonstrated experience with industry best practices for irrigation, power, infrastructure, and/or financial systems policies and procedures. Individual will demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems. Individual will have demonstrated experience in organizing and conducting meetings in program management topics, and in providing coordinated and timely response to technical programmatic tasking.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the branch's policy documents, including handbook, guidance documents, manual, by managing their recurring updates and ensuring they match industry and federal standards.
  • Develop or coordinate the branch's weekly/biannual/annual reporting requirements, including monitoring document progress through the Document Tracking System
  • Assist in answering data requests from bureau leadership and Congress.
  • Assist the Branch Chief and other program managers with project/program management (determining resources, setting timelines, identifying process)
  • Support project tracking and resource forecasting for the branch by training project management and resource forecasting tools.
  • Assist with managing branch meetings.
    o Coordinate/facilitate and attend program area monthly update meetings.
    o Coordinate/facilitate, prepare agenda, and attend Regional Safety of Dams Officer monthly meeting.
    o Lead the monthly Safety of Dams Branch update meeting.
  • Coordinate the development of branch events (branch workshop and central office meeting)
  • Facilitate high-level program policy development (dam inventory policies/workflows, organizational chart)
  • Coordinate between branch program areas, other branches, division staff, regional staff, and other Department of Interior dam safety agencies.
  • Provide onboarding and training to new staff in coordination with other program area leads.
  • Support content development for outreach documents (fact sheets, program summary, workshop and conference presentations, branch website)
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Expert in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
  • Project management qualification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or equivalent experience as a project manager preferred
  • Strong demonstrated written communication.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Proven ability to effectively delegate tasks.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a detailed project schedule and experience seeing projects through the full life cycle.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts.

    Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science or Art degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or Administration.
  • Advanced degrees, including Master of Science or Ph.D., are highly desirable.
  • At least three years' experience working with a federal program, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs, is highly desirable.
